2016 - 2017 USC Transfer

I have the TTP and am trying to transfer in as a sophomore. I got a 4.0 last semester and am applying as a political science major. Do you think I have a good chance of being accepted? Is it possible they might not ask for an SGR?

@faroutgirl Same position with you but I don’t have SGR. In my case, I will probably get an SGR

@faroutgirl *TTP

If you don’t mind me asking but did you have any extra curricular activities? I’m applying as a sophomore with a 4.0 GPA with 15 units(30 after this semester) but I’m worried about my lack of extra curriculars.

That’s what I am worried about too. I don’t have very many EC either. But I remember discussing with my USC counselor last June that they really only care about grades. He said that they care more about your grades then anything so I am hoping I can still be accepted. @chjd22

Yeah I heard that they mainly care about grades too. But as a sophomore transfer with just average high school grades, I feel that some extracurriculars could give me enough of a boost to get accepted.

If you have over 30 units after you spring semester then they won’t be looking at your high school grades. @chjd22

@faroutgirl I have a lot of EC and a good enough GPA. The problem is the 4 units CR/NC. My GPA is 3.8

I have a question about the test score requirement. I know that they are required for applicants with less than 30 credits but does that mean 30 credits by the time you apply to USC or by the time you would start at USC in the fall? I didn’t send my test scores because I’ll have completed more than 30 by the fall semester but as of right now I only have 16 completed. Any information would be really helpful

@wf19hopefully by the time you start at usc. you should have 30 done by the end of this school year but as a sophomore you should send in your test scores

@wf19hopefully it should be over 30 units by the end of spring semester. I am applying as sophomore too. completed 17 units last semester(fall semester) and I am taking 20 units this spring semester. once spring semester is over i will have 17 + 20 = 37 units by the end of spring semester, so I do not have to send in my test scores. In this case, you might need to send in your test scores since you might have under 30 units by the end of spring semester. unless you’re taking 15+ units this semester. hope this helps.

@victory1 The price varies and it depends on if you want a studio or you share with roommates. I’m at Gateway and that’s 1k a month (per person) for 4 people, 2 bedroom. I chose this option solely for location. You’ll get a sense of prices once they create a FB group for admits and see people spam the group with subleases/rent options, haha.

@jacklax62 Getting involved on campus is the best way to make friends. As a Spring Transfer, I had no problem integrating myself on campus because I actively sought out clubs/orgs/events.

I don’t know about everyone else, but I think ECs are great boosters to your app (I’m pretty sure my ECs are the reason I got in). When there are so many applicants with good grades, how else will they differentiate between them? Of course, grades will always be the priority. ECs are just like sprinkles on a cupcake. Good luck to everyone! Feel free to reach out to me about any questions regarding being a transfer here at USC.

If anyone here is transferring into USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering, check out “Transferring to USCViterbi (ViterbiLIVE)” from earlier this year on YouTube. It was done by the Viterbi admissions people, and it’s really informative.

Is anyone trying to transfer to the computer science/ business admin degree?

@topchoiceschool I applied for another major/undeclared as my preferences, but I’m thinking about majoring in that or just cs if I get in!

If my parents file after march 2nd, is that going hold back my aid distribution? I already turned the CSS and FAFSA with my parents estimated income based on 2014.

@mochibbycake what was your ECs? do you also know if north campus is safer than south in terms of security?

Hi guys! I’m a freshman hoping to be a sophomore next year at USC!

I attend a CSU and have taken 15 units this past Fall. Currently taking 16, which adds up to 31 (YAS, I don’t have to send my SAT score.)

Major: Undecided, with 2nd choice Business Administration

Current school: CSU Northridge

Current GPA: 4.0, and expecting a 4.0 this semester as well.

Credits: 48 (15 from Fall, and 33 from AP classes)

High school GPA: 3.5?

EC: lots of volunteer work around the community and local church. I haven’t been really active on campus this past semester, bc I commute, so clubs are an inconvenience.

Letter of Rec: I think they are pretty solid, got them from professors who knew me well.

Also, I am a SCion (legacy student) who is applying under the Trojan Transfer Plan. If y’all could chance me, that would be great

@js119999 You have a solid chance of getting in, especially since you’re a SCion. Higher chance of getting in than I do, but it all comes down to what makes up your 4.0 GPA. If the classes you told are somewhat easy, mostly ge, then having a 4.0gpa won’t do much. And the 33 units from AP classes is very impressive, so that puts you at a great advantage among other applicants. I would be surprised if you get a straight out rejection.

@js119999 Yeah, being part of TTP and a SCion with those stats makes you really, really competitive.

@pomeranian4rich I haven’t read anywhere about AP classes being factored into transfer admissions. I’m applying as a sophomore transfer with 24 AP credits- would that actually have an effect on my admissions?
