@pomeranian4rich thanks a bunch! Yeah, unfortunately, my classes are mostly GE’s, considering I am a freshman. Lots of classes like sociology, biology, and whatnot. We will see how it goes later in April or May.
I got a 3.8. I am a poli sci/IR major. Though, how bad does it look if I took ENGL 102, HDEV 180, THEA 113, CLA 195, MATH 103, R/ST 101, POSC 100, COMM 130, IST 200, and ASAM 100. I left two out on purpose. I am fearing the worst possible answer.
@Probtransfer I don’t not much about the ap credits, but I thought they factor in? I’m guessing if your ap scores are over 4, they will probably factor it in. Some of my ap scores are a 3, and the last time I check they dont accept ap scores of 3. So i didnt bother to submit my scores.
Would it beneficial or helpful to send in a mid-term semester report? I am trying my best to avoid an SGR, and would this potentially help avoid that? I think I am going to send one, but would be nice to receive some feedback on this idea!
@cmartin12 From what I heard from admission officers, they said to not send in anything unless instructed, and that includes mid-term report. I’m not sure if a mid-term report would help or not,but who knows? I think they might ignore the mid-term report if you send it, so if you want to send it or not is up to you.
I applied to transfer and would be going in as a sophomore; however, I don’t have a very competitive GPA but its only from one semester and my school is known for grade deflation (Boston University). I guess my question is do admission counselors take into account the rigor of previous schools and how that can affect grades?
@lindseyyhill1 sadly they dont take into consideration of the school you’re currently attending. I remember reading this from their admission website. you can, however, explain it in their common app, but it’s already due so idk if you did explain it or not.
What are the chances of getting an transfer merit scholarship if you have a 3.8 GPA and took all the prereqs for your major? Do the scholarship renew for 3 years or is it one year only and then you pay full tuition again? I am an international student but transferring from an in state CC so i am not eligible for financial aid, are there any other merit scholarships or is there only the one i mentioned above which is 12,000USD?
My USC counselor for my TTP told me that they do consider your school and how that plays a part in their decision. He said they will look at your GPA first and then consider the school you are attending. @lindseyyhill@pomeranian4rich
@faroutgirl That’s a relief lol! I’m in the same situation as @lindseyyhill: I attend a 4 year that has lots of grade deflation, so I know my GPA isn’t going to be too perfect.
