@victory1 I have a 3.5 (predicting anywhere from 3.3-3.7 for spring) at an arguably top 30 school.
Is it true that getting accepted to USC is a lot easier as a transfer? That is pretty weird because some colleges make it harder to actually transfer in and is easier to get into as a first-time freshmen…
@topchoiceschool TTP is pretty much a program for students with family members who have attended USC. In other words, it’s a program that helps legacy students transfer into USC as sophomores. The students meet with USC counselors and decide which courses to enroll in and whatnot. I also think you can get a 3.6 minimum GPS rather than the average 3.7 that most USC transfer students have. It’s a little boost to help you get into USC for the sole reason of having legacy.
@2020classx USC is known for taking in a lot of transfers, so I think it might be “easier” to get in as a transfer. BUT. you have to consider the difficulty of college level courses, all of which transfers have to get A’s (B’s as the bare minimum, it’s arguable that you can get other letter grades, but 3.7 GPA is the norm) and the difference between transfer/freshman students isn’t too great of a difference that you can consider it “easy” to transfer. I think most colleges are “easier” to get in as transfers for the most part. so many quotation marks. yikes.
Sorry if this was already mentioned, but when is USC expected to release the admission results for transfer applicants this cycle?
I remember how anxious I was at this time last year, and now my nerves are even worse. Being rejected twice would really sting.
What was your gpa last year when you applied? @KELLYYYY
@KELLYYYY did you get SGR last year? what school are you attending?
I definitely want to wish you some luck @KELLYYYY if I haven’t done so already (my mind wanders so much lately now that USC is keeping me busy) Transfers that were previously rejected seem to have better luck the second time around, so that’s something to think about. So few people do post about rejections though, so perhaps the sample is a bit small, but I sure like to believe in it anyway.
when exactly will USC release their acceptances?
@ssm24k I believe if they don’t ask for an SGR, late April. From what I saw on previous threads.
I’m actually only a freshman right now and I’m applying to transfer as a sophomore. I was rejected last year for freshman admission. :-/
@zettasyntax thank you! I remember reading this thread last year when i was rejected and knew i wanted to transfer and I’m glad you’re finally happy!
@victory1 @faroutgirl I had a 4.0 unweighted all throughout highschool and 4.3 weighted. I’m now a freshman at the University of Arizona on the TTP
@Probtransfer What school are you at?
Ohhh, I thought you meant that you were rejected last year as a transfer applicant. Yeah, I was rejected for freshman admission also but did not have as great of grades as you had during high school. @KELLYYYY
I had similar stats as @KELLYYYY when I applied last year as a senior. Let’s hope we all make it this time around lol!!
To all sophmore transfers: will you guys have completed calculus by this spring?
@silvermansachs I will have completed calculus 2 by the end of spring for business admission
Hi guys! I will be applying to USC as a junior for fall 2016 as a communications major as well. Right after high school I went to my local CC and have been here for 2 years now. I currently have a 3.0 GPA and plan on getting a 4.0 this semester in order to help boost my GPA even more. I have completed all of the GE’s required to transfer and I know a 3.0 GPA isn’t really up there for USC, but I have over 200+ volunteer hours and received the Presidential Volunteer Service award. I talked a lot about volunteering and also included me being a first generation high school graduate and college student. I got two professors to write me strong letters of recommendation as well. Do you guys think I have a chance?
@silvermansachs yes, I will have calculus completed by this spring.
@karinalglz I think you may have a chance, but it is really hard to say. I have seen people getting accepted with gpa as low as 3.2, but 3.0 not so much. If they ask for SGR and you somehow, like you said, get a 4.0 that semester, i think they most likely will accept you because of your improvement. From what I heard from admissions, EC doesn’t do much and they really care about your grades and whether you will thrive in their campus. Even if you volunteer for 1000+ hours or have done many great things, the first thing they want you to do is to do well at an academically challenging environment in USC.
