@chjd22 and @ssm24k WOW CONGRATS!! That’s definitely a good sign! how were you guys contacted? Through the you.usc portal? Or email?
@js119999 I was contacted through both email, and the portal. Is it usually a good sign?
An SGR just means they want more information. It’s neither a good sign or a bad sign. I gathered this information from previous USC transfer threads.
Would not receiving a SGR so far be a good sign if you already have a lot of units and a high GPA?
it’s honestly not a good sign or bad sign. There are many people who don’t receive it and get accepted. There are many that receive an SGR and then don’t get accepted. From what I’ve learned, it just means they need some more info on the applicant to make a decision.
Would I hear back later in July then? I submitted everything in a timely manner.
I think that depends wether you go to a semester or quarter system school. Since spring quarter for quarter system school ends late June and spring semester for a semester school ends early May.
I have just heard people that didn’t receive a notice until then and they got an SGR. What did you have to submit?
I had to submit my official hs transcript, even though I have over 30 units, along with my current transcript at my community college, as well as the current grades i’m receiving in my registered classes.
They might have asked you for an SGR because you didn’t submit your transcript earlier? I submitted mine a week or 2 before the Feb 1st deadline, as well as my high school transcript.
Yeah that’s probably why. I wasn’t asked to submit anything until I received an email from them.
@ssm24k I researched a crap ton about SGR on past threads and seems like most of the people who got one were accepted later on. Though I agree with @topchoiceschool that it doesn’t signify a pending acceptance, I definitely would take it as a good sign. It shows they were interested enough to ask for a bit more, yknow? That’s how I would interpret it. AND ITS SO GREAT how you got it so early. Maybe you will/won’t get another one in the coming months, but wow, what if this means you get a straight up acceptance in May/June? :)))))))
@js119999 I hope so! I’m sure you’ll get in as well! I can use a little hope. USC is my first choice!
Guys, don’t get too excited if they asked about more materials. I was asked for another statement explaining my gap between high school and college last year and was later rejected. They are just making sure that they have complete applications with enough information before they make a decision.
One of my best friends got an SGR in early March last year and got a 4.0 that semester, but was ultimately rejected.
@hitherto Do you mind if I ask whether they were transferring from a 2 year or a 4 year, and what school/major did they apply for? Thanks.
@Probtransfer They were transferring from a 2 year and applied for Marshall as their first choice and a Dornsife major as their second choice
@hitherto what was your friends stats if you don’t mind me asking and did he take all of his major requirements and GE classes?
I applied to transfer this fall. I’m a second semester freshman but I have enough credits to make me a Junior at the end of this semester. USC asked me to send my high school transcript to them two weeks ago. Other than that, I haven’t heard anything from them.
I’m super nervous because I really dislike the school I’m attending and USC was my top choice. It was also the only school I applied to because it’s perfect for me.
Exactly, like I said don’t get caught up in the SGR and them requesting more information. Your just exciting yourself or downing yourself for no reason. It honestly just means they need more information from you to make a decision. “The spring grade request is not an indication of an admission decision. We simply need to see more information- in this case, your spring grades- before we can make an admission decision”, this is coming from their admissions blog.
