Hi everyone! I’m currently a freshman at LMU trying to transfer into Annenberg at USC. My GPA for my first semester here was a 3.74 and I’m a communication major here as well. My ACT from high school was a 31 and I had all A’s in high school…I’m thinking they’ll look at my high school courses/grades since I only have 1 college semester for them to go off of. Do you think I have a decent chance since I’m coming from a 4 year private university even though my gpa isn’t super high? USC has been my dream school since I was in 9th grade :-SS
@mr.transfer Don’t remember their exact gpa, it was relatively high. All major requirements/pre-reqs were complete.
A SGR by all means doesn’t guarantee anything but for someone like me whose high school grades weren’t that great, I’m glad I have the ability to send more current information.
Just out of curiosity, to those who already transferred on the thread is it difficult to register for classes that you need for your major once you’re admitted?
@mnada99 I am not an admitted student, but I have heard it is relatively easy to due the fact they are a private institution (unlike the UC system that has to deal with overflow).
Yeah to add on ^, that’s one reason people pay big bucks to attend private institutions. Class sizes are smaller and majors aren’t impacted, like they are in the UC/CSU system. Getting the classes you want is a smooth process, from what I’ve heard.
So i’ve been trying to contact my admissions counselor for 3 weeks now… What do i do guys? I emailed him three times regarding certain things on my application and even left a voice message. I want to call again but I feel like I might bother him and he’ll get annoyed and reject me… GAH
Do I have a good shot of getting into Marshall if my GPA from last semester was a 3.7 and I am a legacy and was offered the TTP? Currently a freshman in college.
@mnada99 I was told that sections are sometimes limited for upper division courses and only available for one or two time slots. If you plan on commuting via public transportation, make sure to factor in train scheduling, etc. Generally, students switch classes around a day or two before the semester begins, and you can snag the class you need that way. You’ll only have problems if you don’t live on or near campus.
@anxiousmac Who’s your counselor? I’ve been having the same problem!
@hitherto Alexander alvendia. who’s yours? I get they’re busy but still… please reply to me so I know they at least read it
Has anyone had their financial aid application accepted yet? Or is it only accepted if/when we get accepted?
@Probtransfer I think they only review your financial aid app, after you get accepted.
@topchoiceschool I see, that explains why it’s been under review for so long. The wait for a decision is killing me, it’s literally like the wait for summer break lol.
I feel you! We still have another month until admissions start to come out… sadly.
I’m going to die of anticipation before I get my decision… I need to stop refreshing this forum every hour lol.
@IBProspect123 its okay. we ALL do it.
its like please accept me so i can plan better or reject so i have time to grieve. whatever it is, PLEASE TELL US NOW. lol
@mnada99 I started my fist semester at USC and I actually had the opposite problem, haha. One of my major classes had so few students that they cancelled a bunch of lab sessions and I unfortunately had to drop the class because none of the remaining ones worked with my schedule. All of the other classes I wanted to take were relatively easy to enroll in. It’s so weird though. From past semesters, it seems like the class is usually pretty full and even counts as a GE, so off-semester I guess
I’m taking a business law class this semester that doesn’t transfer and I think I might get a C but I’m hoping for a B. If I get a C and get an SGR how will they look at it since the class isn’t transferable?
@chaseguy750 whats your GPA? there are several factors they consider: how many units are you taking this semester? are you working towards your GE classes and major requirement classes? did you have an upward trend in grades? can you handle full time course work? do you have EC and do you work? they look for well rounded diversity students.
