@QueenA101 how low?
@laccstudent I think you have to go directly to the high school.
@Pantafootball It’s one of the life sciences. Category D for business administration. If I take it after the fall semester and show them it’s in progress, is that fine as well? even if it won’t be completed by the admission deadline? I’d much rather drop and receive a W than get a B or C. Thank you for your help
@mrgreenjello they DO NOT like W’s at all… they’d much rather see a B or C
That’s for everyone too… if anyone here is debating on whether or not to drop a course and take a W, I HIGHLY suggest you do not do that… just work your butt off and do the best you can, USC is NOT fond of W’s unless there’s a good reason such as personal issues or illness.
I have 4 Ws and 2 NPs. Good bye USC
@laccstudent weren’t you the one that said you turned things around though? That suggestion just applies to those who are considering it, because obviously they don’t look good, but don’t let that keep you from applying!
There have been applicants to get in with W’s and or previous F’s, but obviously it’s best to avoid if possible… don’t let it discourage you from applying!
Can someone also chime their opinion on this? Will having 1-2 W’s really hurt your chances? or will getting a “B” or “C” hurt more? I believe if I get a B or C my gpa will go to around 3.7-3.75
@penntousc Welp, not sure what post you are referring to but I’m pretty sure it’s going to be an auto rejection. But hey, I think I should just apply anyway Perhaps get an experience out of applying?
@laccstudent I apologize I had the wrong person, but don’t look at it as an auto rejection… I think I may have over-exaggerated that a little bit. Naturally, W’s don’t look great on any application, but that doesn’t stop students from all over the country from being able to transfer into the schools that want to attend. Last thing you want to do is have a negative outlook, if it makes you feel any better, I don’t have a single EC, none in HS nor college, no community service, only 1 job that lasted more than a month (working it right now), and I graduated HS with a 2.78 so if they take that into consideration at all, it may hurt my chances as well… you’ll soon find that almost no one in here has a perfect application so hope for the best!
lol which USC? University of southern california, or university of south carolina …
@penntousc Yeah, I guess so.
@xxemilyb We want to transfer to U of South Carolina and study the history of Confederate Stat- nope, it’s University of Southern California.
Any other USC Price prospective transfers?
@laccstudent Thought so, see unfortunately I’m from that confederate state.
@mrgreenjello listen to @penntousc getting a W is as bad as getting an F it’s highly looked down on … you’re way better off getting a C in the course. Do not go for the W you might just completely ruin your application. If someone has had Ws before but they completely turn it around then that’s different but if you’re getting it the last semester of when you’re applying then that’s not good at all.
@Pantafootball Thank you, I will now stick with the course and aim for a B or C. However, I already have 1 W during my first semester of college. Anyways, i just want to make sure, USC only looks at transferrable gpa? or overall gpa which includes classes that are irrelevant to both Articulation Agreement and Major?
@mrgreenjello I had a W on my transcript and did not retake the course. The semester following the W, I was a part-time student and took Speech and American Literature. I was still accepted. I really don’t think it’s a big deal. If your transcript shows you were mainly a full-time student and took challenging courses, you have one less thing to worry about as a possible admit. I would focus on maintaining a high gpa to remain competitive.
@mrgreenjello if the class is not transferable between your CC and USC then it won’t count if it’s transferable under the articulation agreement but not relevant to the major it’s still going to be counted to your gpa. Because if you’re a business admin major like me the only two courses that are relevant in the eyes of USC for the major is calculus and English critical thinking. The rest is just general ed so my science course is relevant , my social Science course is relevant, my public speaking course which is not a GE requirement is still transferable to USC because of the articulation agreement that states every single course from my school that will transfer to USC. So what I recommend is that you see the classes that transfer from your school to USC and each course that is listed relevant or not will be your transferable gpa that they will look at.
Guys, I am transfering as a sophoremore. I am so stressed in the school I am currently in. I lived in LA for about a week in my friends house before I went to my university this fall. I loved the vibe and people in LA and right now I am probably going to get a B or C in a language course. Should I drop out? I was aiming for all A’s but it was my fault that I fell asleep and did not study. Should i just drop out in this university and go to santa monica community college? or should I stay in the university I am currently in.
