2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

I just called USC admissions and they said they still have not recieved my hs transcript, so i resent it. Will them receiving my hs transcript later effect my decisions?

@Skepta your application will remain incomplete until they receive it (aka they won’t read it). It may make you get your decision later than the rest of us.

@jonathaanv The delay would only be by 4-5 days max, do you think the decision will still come later than rest?

@Skepta I honestly don’t know. It would depend how far they are in reading people’s applications. I would assume (and this is just my opinion) that they’ll move your application to the incomplete pile and they’ll get to others who have everything in already. They’ll get to yours eventually, but like I said I’m not entirely sure.

@CornellAEMplease Usually late April, into May for those that aren’t on the Trojan Transfer Plan. Their aim is to notify everybody in some way by June 1st (SGR, acceptance, rejection). However, as I like to mention, I didn’t hear any type of decision until June 6th when I received my acceptance packet, so they can even make you wait longer than they say before you hear anything :stuck_out_tongue:

@Skepta I remember my counselor emailing me around May 7th asking me for my HS transcript (well, GED in my case). I had sent it the previous year and assumed they still had it on file because nothing on portal indicated that it was missing. Anyway, it did make me wonder if some of the counselors do utilize some sort of stack method - that perhaps the later they get to your file, the later you might receive a decision. I found it strange how late in the game he was asking for transcript when people get accepted in late April. I also think my highly unusual decision date (after the deadline) adds a tiny bit of support of my belief that my counselor forgot about me or something :stuck_out_tongue:

@zettasyntax so it will effect the time of my decision?

Hey everyone, i’ve been reading this thread for so long and thought i would finally post.
I am also a transfer student that applied to USC Marshall and hoping to be admitted.
The wait is killer, and i want to know so badly already.

Good to know a lot of users on here are also marshall applicants!

@Skepta My experience certainly wasn’t the norm. In fact, nobody seems to believe me when I tell them I received a notification of my decision after the deadline. I don’t even think they’re looking at transfer applications yet (except those on TTP), so at this point in the game, it shouldn’t really impact the timing of your decision. If you have Clay Busia as your counselor, maybe it could though. I think a lot of these things are counselor-dependent.

@usctransferivc don’t stress too much I’m also in a position of around 3.6 but trust me many people with 4.0s get rejected year after year since they had lack of GEs or didn’t do the pre reqs

@Pantafootball lol do you think they’ll take into consideration that none of the prereqs at my CC transfer to USC? I mean I’ve got math, writing and 6 GEs, but no business courses, because why would I take them if they don’t transfer? Just hoping they see it the same way I do

Everyone talking about GPAs lower than 4.0 while I’m sitting here with a GPA lower than 3.5… rip

When do those on TTP begin to hear back?

@stahboy but I mean… you’re coming from an ivy so they can’t hold you to the same standard as a community college because it wouldn’t be fair to you as it is a lot harder for you in terms of course load and expectations (also they’ve accepted you before  so don’t worry too much!!)

Not to say that community college isn’t still difficult, they can be especially depending on course load and classes a person takes. But it’s just that it’s unreasonable to hold GPA from an Ivy League to the same standard as a community college.

@chap97 late march

Do most TPP Students receive a spring grade request?

@USCfan1 as long as TTP follow the guidelines set out by the program they probably won’t because they have counselors assigned to them to make sure they take all the right classes to transfer smoothly. So as long as they stick to the program TTP won’t get SGRs because also they have a GPA limit as well so if they fall behind the GPA limit they no longer qualify under TTP. Of course there are always exceptions to every “rule”

@penntousc since you’re a sophomore applicant I’m sure they’ll see that you could only do so much in a year… you got the most important ones done. I’m talking about the people with 4.0s who don’t even have the math or English requirements done or barely any GEs

I am a Marshall applicant, Haas as well. 100+ college credits. 3.7 GPA. No boy scout badges…worked for a living. I have to admit, it is not easy to focus as intensely as I have the last three years. However, we can not control the past and the future does not belong to us yet. For those of you worried about “mediocre” GPA’s, take comfort in knowing that all of this is relative.Have a positive attitude, show some composure, and as Samuel L Jackson once said, “hold on to your butts!”.

@pandafootball thank you, that does make me feel much better.

I’m just now remembering that I ended up not taking a literature class this semester. It was the very last GE/Area that USC wanted and the only one that I did not complete. I’m not too worried about it though because if I remember correctly, USC makes you take 2 GE’s at USC anyway.

And like I said previously, all other GE’s & Major Prep have been completed.

What are your thoughts about this situation?

Thanks!

(Also lol I am glad someone noticed that no one replied to my original post and that I was the one who replied to my own post

So, do most rejections come in the form of not receiving an SGR? I know there’s been a couple of people who didn’t get an SGR, and unexpectedly got an acceptance a couple months later… but, for the most part if you receive an SGR and get good grades for Spring, will you most likely get accepted?
