2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@pomeranian4rich at the time of send your application did you have more than 30 sem units on ur transcript? If you had less did you get a SGR or were you admitted directly?

@pomeranian4rich yes that is what confused me but in simple terms let say we were to be admitted then we would technically have two years left at USC.

how bad is it to have a typo one of the essays? instead of saying “my” i said “by”

@Skepta did you already submit your application with the typo? I don’t think it will be too big of a deal but proofreading is important

@Skepta I had less than 30 units last year when I apply, 34 units by end of spring. Getting sgr isn’t guaranteed. Some people I know got straight out rejected and some people like me(idk how I got it, my essay had lots of mistake) would get a sgr. And sgr doesn’t mean an acceptance. It’s like you past the preliminary and on the final round against other sgr applicants

Sending syllabi is only necessary for courses that aren’t on the articulation agreement, right? Unless USC requests them

Just so anyone knows that might be interested, I was scrolling through USC’s youtube playlists and they have done “Transferring to USC” Google hangout/live streams in both November of 2015 and January of 2016, so besides the Viterbi stream I would look for there to be another general live stream at some point.

@pomeranian4rich but if you do get a SGR and you send ur spring with grades with nothing but As then surely they must accept you?

@Skepta nope. Had a 4.0 in spring and got rejected. reasons:poorly written eassy and lack of completed GEs
Other people who had a 3.5 in spring, had one W and etc got accepted. reasons: they completed more GEs than I did…lol

@pomeranian4rich how many GE’s did you have completed? Il have 6 out 8 completed by spring and all my major reqs completed.

@Skepta dude don’t worry so much lol you have great stats and there is never a guarantee for acceptance… just focus on your semester so you can send in good grades when they give you an sgr

@pomeranian4rich I remember from the accepted transfers thread a Marshall transfer had a 3.4 with a W … he did state he had a lot of GEs and wrote a very strong essay

If anyone hasn’t seen this and is looking for reassurance or confirmation that they’ve done everything they can’t, I’d recommend watching it. Was able to mentally check off everything in my head as they were answering questions and running through the transfer admissions process, eased my nerves a bit.

I am a currently attending a California community college and I hope to transfer my sophomore year into USC’s Marshall School of Business. My overall college GPA is a 4.0, I have taken all the recommended classes, and I will have 33 units by the end of this semester (so I don’t need to send ACT/SAT and my high school transcript isn’t looked at). My mom is an alumni from USC, will this help my chances?

Thank you for reading!

@C0I1egegirl as long as you’ve completed most of the GE program you’ll probably get in, and I’m not sure about the alumni thing

@C0l1egegirl idk if being a usc legacy helps but I know a couple of my friends who were legacy and were rejected as high school seniors but were offered the ttp(trojan transfer plan, best thing next to being a spring admit.)
@Skepta I had 2 out of 8 completed. I wouldn’t worry much if you have 6 out of 8.

Do transferable units include IB and AP scores?

@c0llegegirl I have legacy as well with two siblings who are going or went to USC. I’m not sure how much it will pay a factor in transfer

I’m currently attending a film school in Chicago. By the end of spring I’ll have 64 units completed, at least 42 of them being transferable and a 3.981 GPA. Most GE credits completed, a strong personal essay, as well as a good portfolio and major related experience. Any idea of what my chances could be?

@chap97 this depends very heavily on what program you are applying to. If you applied to the film/production program in the USC school of cinematic arts thats as hard to get in as juliard or even Yale’s program. Acceptance rate for film /production program @ USC school of cinematic arts hovers around 6-7%, since its one of the most prestigious in the world.
