@mellyjune WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO
What is this talk about the youSC portal?
@CornellAEMplease after applying, you’ll get an email from USC with a link to the youSC portal which is an online database for your application, there you can check the status of your application (as in whether you have submitted everything you need for admission), when decision time comes around, depending on where you live, you may be notified through the portal first (typically updated like 3 days after envelopes get sent out, so if you live on the east coast or international, the portal will update before your decision envelope arrives in the mail)
Hi! I got rejected from Marshall last year too. I am applying this year again. You have a very high GPA. Did they tell you the reason of your rejection?
@mellyjune I live in norcal, (bay area) so will I find out about my decision by mail before seeing it on the youSC portal? Also what about for SGRs, I assume for that they just let you know on the portal?
@skepta most likely you’d get mail first because they send it priority mail (acceptances) and first class (denials) but for NorCal they should only take a day (acceptance, and two maybe for denial) to arrive (most likely of course). And then your portal would update a day or two after your physical mail but things happen at the post office and things can get delayed/lost which is why USC uses portal as well.
USC typically sends mail but with SGR I am not sure. I think it’d be either email or portal. But again, I don’t know for sure.
You can also find out if you got in, if the YouSC portal looks a little different and has a new option to pay/enroll. In 2015, I saw this change in the portal and in CC we speculated that it means you got in, then I got my packet from Viterbi 2-4 days later before the USC packet.
when mailing different transcripts or papers separately to usc, how do they sort them to your application?
@greenpotatoe once one of your documents make it to the office, they create a file for you and place all the documents into that file.
How do we know when they’ve received transcripts? I had my high school transcripts sent on Friday, but there’s still an option to “Upload/Fax” them and they’re not listed under the received documents tab
I also had my high school send my transcript last week but on my YouSC portal, under required documents, it says “High School Transcript” and it gives me the option to “Upload/Fax”… Although, under “Received Documents,” it also says “Academic History - A list of courses completed and grades received from grades 9 through 11 in high school.”
Is there still anything I need to do for my hs transcript…?
@et8818 I have the same thing, I’m really not sure what they want… @pomeranian4rich do you know what this means?
i’m really excited and also nervous.
when did junior transfers start hearing back last year, for marshall specifically? That’s probably around the time we’ll hear back too.
are we going to have to wait until may and june?
@cc2LAuniversity pretty sure they started hearing back in late march/early april
I’m gonna finish CC this spring and am currently standing at 3.88 gpa with honors and am part of the PTK honor society. (I used to go to NYU a few years ago but left due to my 1.8 gpa…during my gap year I interned at a non-profit for HIV awareness, worked at a physician’s office as a medical assistant & currently working at a dental clinic) Also I want to major in biochemistry at USC…what are my chances?
I applied to USC as a high school senior and got rejected but for my youSC portal then i used the same email as i have now. so when they sent me a new id # to log in yesterday, it didn’t let me register again, meaning i had to use the same account as a year ago because it said my email has already been used previously. should i call them or is this normal? anyone else experience this?
@moncc44 you should definitely call them to sort things out. I used a different email to apply since I also applied to USC in 2015 just to avoid the trouble.
@struggling123 USC will most likely see how you have developed/ grew in your time in school and will include that in their evaluation. They want to see improvement more than anything.
If i’m taking a computer science class with lab online, will it transfer to USC?
This is what USC website says:
“online or hybrid laboratory science classes will not satisfy Category III GE or earn equivalence to USC lab science courses.”
