2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

Is the application due at 12am PST or EST tomorrow, February 1st?
Haha just in case I need to submit my application last minute EEP.

@AGoodFloridian I was watching the undergrad admissions live chat from 2016 and they outright said for transfers it’s 90% gpa, (3.7 and above) and if you are are doing at least 6/8 transferable GEs and ur major reqs by end of spring. (Spring of the year you are applying of course).

Oh also apparently if.you are non viterbi you are required to take 2 out of the 8 GE’s. @ USC

@buizchick 11:59 p.m tomorrow at whatever timezone you’re in. Good luck!

Hi Guys,

Hope all of you are excited for USC!

I am applying as a cognitive science major. I am 19 and my is G.P.A 3.7. Have a ton of extracurriculars. Have my own start-up, a professional athlete, and was recommended by the Mayor of LA to USC. Good profile?

Thanks!

Should I put that I was suspeneded in 10th grade???
Do they even read this since I have over 30 units?

Ugh, I hope my chances aren’t shot with my 3.6 GPA.I have 55 units, so it’s probably the last chance I’ll get to apply. I hope that a 3.68 GPA with 7/8 GE’s completed by the end of the semester will be enough.

@Skepta @mkjmkj I don’t believe it is 90% GPA. My GPA is pretty low, a 3.3, so I can’t compare it to the average GPA of 3.7 since many of USC’s applicants for transfer are CC students, where most of them have higher grades than other students who go to 4 year institutions. A 3.3 at the school I am currently attending is better than average in engineering, USC will look more at the classes you took and their difficulty along with the school you attend.

Oh I got my YouSC email today. Turns out they use the same USC ID when you applied in 2015 for the transfer. So they have all my documents since 2015

@stahboy @mkjmkj @Skepta it’s not 90% GPA, the most important thing is the amount of GEs and major prereqs/reqs completed, and they want to see that the applicant has the ability to maintain an A/B average while completing those courses.

do community college students have higher chance of acceptance than four year university students?

@greenpotatoe I wouldn’t say so. It may seem that way but it’s only because more people in a community college apply for transfers than people in 4 years

@greenpotatoe yeah I would probably say equal chances based on the population of each of the applicant pools.

Hi, I’m a marshall business school transfer student from CC. I’m submitting the three essays on common app and filling that whole application out. Is there anything else that I have to do? I’m sending my official transcripts in the next day or two. It just feels like a lot on my mind and I want to make sure I’m not forgetting anything.

@dman5555 are you a junior transfer? Because if you aren’t you might need to submit a high school transcript based on how many credits you have. But other than the main essay and the supplements you should be good. I’m not sure about Marshall, but Viterbi has an additional 2 essays. You are sending your college transcript so that’s good. I think you’re set.

Damn it seems like everyone and their mother is applying to Marshall

@stahboy If you’re referring to the 30 credit rule, then I think I’m good as I’ve got 70 units.

Does Marshall require anything extra beyond the common app’s three essays and everything on the common app page?

I went to a high school outside of the United States. How do I provide my diploma? I am not sending a transcript because I have a lot of units…
Should I wait to upload to youSC?

@dman5555 no, there is nothing additional that needs to be completed for Marshall.

Hey guys! I submitted my transfer application last night, I’m a Freshman at a four-year University looking to transfer to USC as a sophomore in either the Fall of 2017 or Spring of 2018. I had a 3.7 GPA for my first semester of college (Fall 2016), and hoping to maintain this GPA or higher for this Spring Semester. I have completed 16 credits, but will have 32 credits by the end of this spring, so is it likely to receive a SGR from USC? Any feedback is appreciated!
