2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

@nvz1997 getting an SGR is good in the sense that you didn’t get rejected right away and bad in the sense you didn’t get accepted right away but other than that it’s not really indicative of anything other than the fact that USC wants to know more about you before making their final decision.

@stahboy I’m literally counting down the days. I really hope I get my decision sooner rather than later because of the obvious I JUST WANT TO GO TO USC but also because my finals week is the middle-late may and I’m going to be a mess as it is without the added stress of USC decisions

@mellyjune Yeah I hope decisions come out sooner so that we can plan how to move all of our stuff and get ready to go to USC if we are accepted.

@stahboy I thought we’d hear back earlier in late April/early May as juniors but there was a post a little earlier about a junior transfer getting accepted on may 20th I think it was 8-X but I mean if I get in… I’ll wait hahahaha

@mellyjune I’m willing to wait until June 1st but I favor earlier so I can say goodbye to all my friends in person if I am accepted :frowning:

@stahboy i guess for me also, it’s not so much to wait but the fact that there’s no way to know when it’ll come. Like some of us will know in April while others won’t know until mid July (SGR’s)
But hey what’s 3 more months

We can do this guys!

The main thing that really sucks about this wait is that for those who need to transfer somewhere regardless of where it is (counting me), they need to put down a deposit on their second school of choice while they’re waiting for USC. Other than that, it’s just generally as painful of a wait as a wait can get, and it definitely makes this semester suck 10x more than it already does lol

For the section where we list most recent/current courses, I did not mention the classes that I will be taking in the spring, should I submit addiditional information about this on you.usc? If anyone knows

Hey guys! Just realized that I didn’t put my GPA on the common app. I looked back and there was nowhere to put it. Is this really the case?

Shouldn’t matter since GPA is going to be on your transcripts.

@phoenix23 Thank you! I was just worried cause I didn’t see it on the application at all.

One more question-- USC emphasizes the importance of having full-time load. Are you guys mostly full-time students? I’ve been taking 3-4 courses from my CC, but I don’t usually meet 12 units since I also have full-time work.

Hey so do any of you have letters of rec? I have one complete but I feel that is not enough?

@jae2017 I think most if not all of us take at least between 12-15 credits per semester

@johnfuentesa I have two but only one from a professor. The other is from a counselor that worked through this process with me. I wouldn’t say to do any more than 2, so 1 is fine.

@stahboy Best of luck to you dude! I personally think your reasons for transferring are very valid and have high confidence that you’ll get in
Like @Skepta , I’m also applying to Cornell. As a matter of fact, it’s in my top three, even higher than USC(don’t hate me hahaha). But I definitely have a bond with USC as it’s the first college I’ve applied to as a transfer student.

@penntousc Thank you! My cc is on a quarter system, so I do take about 4 courses per semester or 2-3 per quarter.

@jae2017
I have been full time, but this semester (my last one) I am only taking 6 units. I have almost 100 units so I don’t think they will mind that I am only half-time.

Side note:An admissions counselor even told me that if I finish all my requirements in the Fall, they would not find it negative if I didn’t go to school in the spring.

@AGoodFloridian haha no hate here. Cornell is still a really good school, the academics are superb. No matter which school USC or Cornell, both are great places. I am close to USC because both of my sisters are Trojans so I guess that could be another reason I’m transferring. It’s in my blood so to say :stuck_out_tongue:

This may have already been stated, but I just joined college confidential today and was wondering when the decisions will come out? Also is there a difference in acceptance rates between colleges (for example between Marshall and Viterbi) or is it generally the same for all of them?
