Does anyone know what the deadline time is for the app? I’m on the west coast so I’m assuming its 11:59, but just want to play it safe. Also How important is getting a recommendation?
@dman5555 The deadline is 11:59pm in your current time zone. Also, recommendations are not really important. Your grades and the number of GE’s you have completed is what matters most to them.
I emailed my admissions counselor about my part-time status. She told me that since I was taking full-time classes for the last three semesters, that it wouldn’t be a concern. I took part-time classes for the first year but start taking full load this past summer. @jae2017
Is it me or is it so stressful waiting for decision(s)? I was just accepted to University of Michigan today though so I already have a great school to choose if for some reason USC doesn’t want me
Still working on my app here. Anyone else?
@AGoodFloridian did you already submit ur app to Cornell? Also do you know if it’s rolling admissions?
The Common App states that the deadline for regualr decison for Fall 2017 is 03/15/2017. I’m also applying to Cornell.
@cassidylynnn believe me, you’re not the only one lol… gotta say I wish I had a school that good to fall back on though, if I don’t get in I’m going somewhere with a deeper articulation agreement with USC so that I can try again
Okay guys, I need some advice. If I get accepted into USC as a sophomore without financial aid, should I go ahead and take out student loans OR should I stay another year at my CC until I apply again to USC and other schools? My major is journalism and USC only allows transfers with no more than 36 units to be accepted as a journalism major, and I know that USC is one of the top school for journalism in the country! It has always been my dream to attend USC, but I know that being in major debt is going to be a nightmare!
@SportsNerd24 I don’t know how much you want to value my opinion since if I get in I’ll likely get very good financial aid, but if USC is where you intend on going, attend if you get in. It’s so much money to begin with, and if you wait another year and waste credits/time at a CC, you could end up graduating late anyways, and so you’d still be paying for that 5th and/or 6th semester at USC.
Wow so many people applying to Cornell here. That’s great As a Cornellian, I can say it is worth the experience.
@penntousc Thanks for the feedback! I know at least 2/3 of USC undergraduate students receive financial aid, so hopefully I get something.
@SportsNerd24 oh well it’s not so much of a ratio as it is based on your EFC. USC meets 100% of need, so whatever they determine to be your need, will be what they give you. To lower class students, they’re typically very generous, but they can be stingy when it comes to the middle class, although some still get generous aid. I’m sure you’ll get something!
@penntousc Yeah, unfortunately my parents make enough money where I won’t be getting a whole lot, but since I did receive the California bog waiver and a scholarship this freshman year, my entire year was paid off, thank goodness. My parents are really advising me not to go to USC if I don’t get a lot of financial aid because they don’t want me to end up in terrible debt, but this is my only shot getting into my dream school with my desired major. I hope you get into USC also!!!
@SportsNerd24 I would be more worried about the debt if it was for a school with a payoff that’s not nearly as great as USC, but I think the potential for a great career is priceless and that is what USC offers. And thank you!
is there a transfer page on collegeconfidental for cornell?
what major are you guys applying as?
Hey how many essays did you all do? Common App has a place for a perosnal statement by USC only requires 2?
@johnfuentesa if you are applying to Viterbi you have to do an additional 2 essays so a total of 5 essays
If I’ve been part time for my entire time at cc, with a 3.9 are my chances still low? You can be frank.
@jjcc77 honestly, I’d say yes. This is because one of the main things USC emphasizes on for transfer applicants is the ability to complete a full course load (12-15 credits) and still compete with other USC students in terms of GPA. For USC’s tuition, you actually pay for 18 credits per semester, and they expect you to take at least 16 of those while recommending that you take an additional 2 credit elective. I feel like it would be difficult to get in with only part time semesters.
