2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

I submitted my application yesterday, when should I be getting my youSC portal email?

Whooo! Just finished applying :slight_smile: This is my first post and I made an account just to say this. I’m soooooo excited for this opportunity. It had been a dream to go to USC since I was a kid (I’m a double legacy, grew up in LA, etc…) but I didn’t have the grades and ACT in hs… but now I have a 3.94, do ROTC, have good references, work part-time paid and volunteer every week, and am in an honors society. The only thing I think holding me back would be an accumulated 81 credits (6 units I took for pass/no pass for working 65 hours in the summer) but other than that and finishing the required classes I hope I’m chillin.

Major is Sociology, and I’m not sure how competitive Dornisfe is with this major.

@camigrace probably within 1-3 days

@Skepta I haven’t submitted my application yet for Cornell, but it’s coming along. I have to finish one application per week until the end of March to keep up with all of the deadlines. It’s intense stuff but the fact that I can see myself in all of them really helps at the end of the day.

Every week is a new a reverie of being on one of their campuses soon <3

I turned down a full ride to UC Davis just so that I can get a shot at attending USC . Some people judge me very heavily, but I followed my heart.

@DirtyDonut great decision, the worst thing you can do is settle for less than what you know you can accomplish. Same reason I’m here.

Application finally submitted… there’s nothing more stressful than having the stress of needing an A or B in major pre req that I’m taking this spring … good luck to everyone !

@penntousc thank you for the encouragement (: the best part about USC is the Trojan family. The greatest support network !

Should I put my test scores? SAT AP? I applied prior so they have some of them however I think they would hinder my chanches as they are a little lower. I’m a junior transfer.

@johnfuentesa You don’t need to report them and since they have your old scores, they can see them if they like. But hiding them on the common app could be a sign of bad scores.

Hey, what are some of the other universities you guys are applying to? Just curious because I need backup schools if I don’t get into USC.

@lilego69 . Unless the school you’re transferring to has an acceptance rate of 50%+, it’s hard to call it a back up. What I’d suggest is applying to around 7 colleges if you can. Remember, some of them don’t have additional essays so they’d only require your commonapp transfer supplement. (These include: Wesleyan, Colgate, Middlebury)

@jae2017 I think it matters somehow because I got rejected last year with 3.8 GPA, and to my question “Why was I rejected?” They answered that I was not enrolled full time.

I guess backup school was the wrong phrase. I just want to know what are some of the other schools you guys are applying to. I figure we’re all great students if we’re applying to SC so I just thought I would ask.

Just submitted my application. WOOOOOOOO!!!

@lilego69 I am also applying to UCLA, UCI, UCR, and UCSB

@lilego69 it’s USC or bust

Can you apply to UCLA as a freshman transfer ?

@DirtyDonut only if you will have atleast 90 quarter units done or 60 semester units done by the end of this spring. The units can be a combo of AP test credits and college credits.

I have three semesters as a full time student under my belt, but last fall I dropped a class due to the stress of a death in my immediate family and became part time. Will that hurt my chances if I’m full time this semester? I explained my circumstance in the application.
