@ndnmrt USC doesn’t necessarily have an specialized business programs like finance, with the exception of accounting and global business. In my opinion, Marshall helps to make students well rounded in all aspects of business, but there is plenty of room (in terms of credits) to focus on one area, such as finance. The trojan network is very real, but you will only get out of it what you put into it. Obviously no one is going to hand you a job, but USC’s networking most definitely makes it easier and less stressful to find and earn opportunities.
@ndnmrt you’ll also want to take into consideration that Marshall has their own job/internship portal separate from the rest of the university, and that USC’s student to faculty ratio is 9:1 while UT’s is 18:1.
@stahboy I’m sure they have it since I got confirmation from common app (and they took my money hahaha) and I don’t want to bother them because I’m sure they’ve got a lot of documents to sort through. I’ll probably contact them if it hasn’t updated by the end of the week though.
I submitted on like 11pm on the 30th so I wasn’t early but I was still within the timeframe.
Hello, I just found this thread after looking through the 16-17 transfer one because I am already getting anxious about this whole transferring thing. I was wondering if anyone had been able to get in contact with their counselor, I emailed mine about like 3 days ago regarding transferring units. I am afraid that only 40 of my 63 units will actually transfer over to USC
@bxnditx you can check which credits transfer on this site:
https://camel2.usc.edu/articagrmt/artic_hist_range.aspx
If they aren’t on there, it doesn’t mean they don’t transfer, but that they never have before, so it’s impossible to know. I doubt your counselor will be able to help you though, because it is only after you’ve been accepted that you find out which credits transfer, and which requirements they fulfill. Good luck!
@penntousc I will take it into consideration, thanks! USC is better known in Europe as well, so I guess I will benefit more of it.
@penntousc Yeah i used that website and hopefully more will transfer over if I even get accepted. Thank you tho!
Is it easier for those who go to a 4 year institution (outside of California) to transfer into USC than let’s say those from community colleges? Or is the opposite the case?
@raindropdroptop it doesn’t really make a difference. The majority of transfers come from community colleges, but more community college students apply for transfer to begin with. In my honest opinion, community college students have a very, very slight edge over 4 year uni students because they have not yet made any commitments, and going from High School > Community College > USC is a constant progression that demonstrates planning and goal setting. I’m pretty sure people have asked counselors this question before, and they said that it does not make a difference, so there’s also that. Good luck!
Hey, I applied to transfer as a sophomore from a 4-year university in Canada, but I’m an American citizen and went to high school in the US. I’m applying to Dornsife from a business/management program. Is there any sort of acceptance chance increase associated with my situation, being that I’m coming from a Canadian business program, though I’m from the US, to a liberal arts program?
I’m applying as a sophomore transfer with a 3.7 GPA. My major is animation my father used to be an employee at USC so I guess that works in my favor a little bit. I think the deciding factor is definitely my portfolio which I am nervous about lol. Im hoping I get my decision soon.
Wait, I’m supposed to submit my AP Scores already?
@Zozo10 isn’t animation a three year program? You would need to stay another year at USC to complete it, but I’m guessing you already know that
@CCTransferer It is not required for you to send your ap scores but if you think it helps with your credibility or application then it is fine
Is it okay if I send colleges my Deans List Certificate for engineering that I got in my first semester of college?(btw I’m only in my second semester)
@greenpotatoe it’s fine to do but Dean’s List has a GPA qualification, and they’ll already be seeing your GPA so it won’t present any new information to them.
@cctransferer @stahboy You are required to send AP Scores if you are using them to fulfill prerequisites. i.e. Using AP Calculus Credit to fulfill a Calculus credit. Otherwise no you don’t.
hi guys, do you think I could get into usc as gender studies major with a 3.2-3.3? I know my GPA is on the lower side but I have really great extracurriculars and letters of rec. My resume is good, I just suffer from bad GAD so that affected my GPA a bit.
@phoenix23 Wait, I thought you only send AP scores after you’re admitted? They’re not on the transfer application checklist
If you are using them for prerequisites then yes, you need to send them now as they have no way of knowing you earned the credit for those classes. I have had two people tell me (someone from Marshall and someone from the Admission office) that I have to send them now so they can add them to my file. If you don’t need them for prerequisites then don’t send them now.
