2017 - 2018 USC Transfer

If I was following TTP my freshmen year but wasn’t my sophomore year will that make a difference?

From previous threads and friends’ experiences, I think most do not receive sgr. It’s either straight up acceptance or sgr. The only reason I can think of for a sgr is if you’re applying to engineering as oppose to other easy majors in dornsife.
@kamtea
@chap97 You don’t have to necessarily follow the course layout your counselor picked for you. You can change it up. The fact that you’re on the ttp will give you an edge over other regular applicants, depending if you took the right courses and have a 3.6+ gpa(anything lower will disqualify you from the transfer plan) lol.

I apologize if this has been answered in the previous pages, but may I ask when transfer students will hear back based on previous years trends? Will the notification be in a form of mail, e-mail, common application update, or youSC update?

@zettasyntax
@pomeranian4rich

does anyone know how much having an articulation agreement with a cc helps?

I’m applying to viterbi as a cs major.

taken calc 3, currently taking differential equations, discrete math

i transferred from a 4 year uni to a cc coz of low gpa but then i got 3.0 gpa taking calc 3 (got a B), philosophy , 2 cs classes (both As), english 1a ( got a C, it was a fasttrack class)

I have 2 quarters of physics and 1 quarter of chemistry.

I exceed all the requriements but my academic history is not the best but i have improved

have about 54 units completed

edit: am an international student

@alienman1234 having an articulation agreement certainly helps a lot. Your chance of getting in is contingent with your recent grade trends.

Guuuys, I just got my ACT scores back today!!

I went from a 31C back in October…

to a 31C, just with shifted component scores! </3

Who else is glad that they’re done with those cursed standardized tests? <3

@AGoodFloridian well I haven’t taken them since my junior year in HS and I only got a 1700 on the SAT so I’ve been done lol. If I don’t get accepted to USC this year though, I’m going to need to take them again so I have a chance at other good schools when I apply next year.

@penntousc if you don’t get in this year then for sure next year you’ll only have to do the remaining GEs which is a lot easier than Major pre reqs!

@Pantafootball yeah that’s what I’m thinking, but I’m hoping that 6 GEs + the major prereqs with a 4.0 is enough as a sophomore

@penntousc that’s way more than enough did you complete the global ones too ?

@Pantafootball I took a western civ class that transfers so that knocks out one of the literacies and the second global, no classes available for the first global one though

@penntousc that should be fine Usc would certainly be dumb for it accepting you

Looking at my campus today and how beautiful it is here, I have doubts about transferring :stuck_out_tongue:

@penntousc is it the citizenship in a global era? It’s hard to find classes to satisfy usc’s global perspective ge lol. I’m taking sociolinguistic right now to satisfy the global era one and it’s the only class at my community college that satisfy it.

@Pantafootball well let’s hope they think the same thing! I saw your stats awhile back too, and I also think that you should have a sure shot, at least as sure as you can get with USC. Good luck!

@pomeranian4rich my western civilization class should satisfy 1/2 humanistic inquiry and traditions and historical foundations. Nothing from my CC transfers as the global era GE, and any of the other ones that I didn’t complete were either not offered at all or at a different campus (my CC has 3), or they required prerequisites that didn’t transfer, so I would have been wasting time & credits if I had tried to complete them (ex: Chem 2, but Chem 1 doesn’t transfer). In general though there aren’t many options that can fulfill that GE for any school, so I definitely know what you mean lol.

@penntousc @pomeranian4rich yeah I had to take political science of international relations to satisfy one of my global perspective classes and it was the only class that fulfilled the requirement… funny how most if not all students trying to transfer to USC were in that class with me :))

Why is it so warm in New York in February? :slight_smile:

Hey guys,

I was just wondering does having only 4 classes a semester look bad to USC when I apply? I mean, I need to work part time so I don’t want to get too stressed and cause my grades to down in my classes.

Also, another question: do I fit my classes to fit the USC GE requirements or my major requirements? I am a History major because I am little confused about all this.

@avasquez65 4 classes won’t look bad as long as though classes add up to at least 12 units, and you will not find out which classes fulfill which requirements until you are accepted and receive a STARS report, which shows the classes that transfer and the requirements that are fulfilled. You basically just want to match the classes you’re taking to the examples that USC provides as best as possible.

Thank you, I was a little confused about that.
