Hi! I got a letter March 30th asking for my spring grades. Does everyone get that or do I have a shot at getting in?
Major: Real Estate (Price) or IR (Dornsife)
Current School: Moorpark CC
current GPA: 3.25 (I got a C in my pre calc class, I got all As besides that, I am also taking 21 units right now and have all As) (I should be at a 3.7 after this semester)
HS GPA: 3.5
SAT: Did not send
Work experience: Retail, Barista, and a lot of community service
EC’s: I have started clubs, I am on the track team right now
Extra: I have the president of the board at one of USC colleges and a trustee that wrote me recs
I only need 2 more GE’s
I am a TTP (will be the 13th in my family to attend hopefully)
@sagerheinschild are you applying as a rising sophomore or a rising junior? almost every sophomore gets an SGR except for TTP students, and even they get SGRs sometimes I believe.
@angeleno13 hey those are the two majors i applied to as well! I’m a rising junior from csulb but i was worried about that too because i don’t know if i have the pre reqs or not, do you know how to check???
hey everyone, i just applied as a rising junior for comm and PR, has anyone heard anything yet?? my portal doesn’t say anything and i haven’t gotten any mail
also, when do they start asking for spring grades?
@csumit@sagerheinschild@StipendAwarded
TTP is not just legacy or borderline applicants. Some TTPs are coming in having had 4.6gpas and 34 ACTs they just didn’t get into a major that was over applied to at the time. Lots of reasons to get TTP offered. Same thing with spring admits, when you have 65,000 applying and are turning away 3000-4000 with a 4.0 and 99 percentile test scores, there are a lot in the queue waiting to get in. Sure, some may have lower scores since USC is holistic, but it really has nothing to do with lower anything overall.
@StipendAwarded Not necessarily!! So what I mean is, there are only certain languages that fulfill the foreign language requirement.
For example: My school offers Spanish, French, Japanese, Vietnamese, and I believe two other languages. Of all these languages, Spanish is the only one that has a third level course. In addition, according to the articulation agreement, both levels of French could not be used to fulfill the language requirement. Therefore, only Spanish would have satisfied it. Looking at some other local CCs, it seems like Spanish was also the only language at those schools that satisfied the requirement.
So, what I’m trying to say is, it really depends. Spanish typically is almost always accepted, hence why I recommend taking it if you’re not sure if other languages, such as Japanese and Latin, fulfill that requirement. If you’d really like to take Japanese or Latin, I’d email USC and see if they have any information on whether or not that fulfills the requirement.
Sorry if I wasn’t clearer earlier! Hope this helped!
@myalbc I’m a Comm Major! I did get admitted, but I got admitted to my second choice major (Psychology) because Annenberg is doing additional review of their candidates (that’s what it says in my package)
Also, I am planning to major in Interactive Media. GMU and USC don’t really have much of a matriculation agreement. Still want to transfer.
Also, since GMU does not allow freshmen to take their equivalent of USC Writing 130 (theirs is a 300 level) I will probably have to explain to my counselor that. Could I still conceivably transfer if I explain them that (I would try to take it during the summer I transfer into USC).
Finally, I’m going to be appealing the decision I have right now to get in as an undecided.
@StipendAwarded I attend a college that doesn’t have a writ equivalent. They basically said they would waive the requirement and make me take it at usc
I know that ASL is not accepted as a foreign language at USC whereas I believe it has usually been acceptable for the UCs/IGETC requirements. I took the Spanish placement test and as a heritage speaker of Spanish with two heritage Spanish classes taken at CC, I was placed into Spanish III. I honestly thought I would test out of it, but nope lol. The test went a little too fast for me. Taking a foreign language class at USC was really fun. We even went on a small field trip to eat some tacos and the professor made a joke that she would pay for us if we ordered in Spanish, hah
Uhhh guys my portal changed. I see Admission decision and Enrollment deposit. But there is nothing in the links if i click them. Did i get accepted or is it a glitch
