2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

@lovetoast05 okay I’ll send them again. Thanks so much for sharing!

@xxanonxx don’t worry man, I’m on the same boat as you. I was rejected last year, so I’m hoping to get an admission spot this year with my new counselor.

Does anybody know if it is too late to send required forms for financial aid?

@Rickyandmorty They told me forms can be sent later, as long as fafsa and css are submitted on time.

Oh okay, thank gosh.

Thank you so much! @coscimajor

Welp, just declined admission to Tulane. Wayyy too expensive for me. USC is my only hope. :-SS

I heard SCA is really hard to get into. How easier is it for a transfer student, especially a sophomore? Does anyone have the stats for transfer Interactive Media? What level of game would they expect in the sample? (In the lead up, I will be trying to get some games on the App Store and internships).

Also, would AP Lit count for Humanistic Inquiry?

checking last year’s thread and I feel like marshall applicants are going to hear back in the next few days, just a feeling but I really hope I am right. I can’t wait any longer!

@thedailyjav I thought that too, but I just emailed my counselor and I got an automatic response that she is traveling on the behalf of the university so I’m not sure. I wonder how many counselors are also doing that

@thedailyjav If it doesn’t happen this Thursday/Friday or so, it’s definitely going to happen next week. I got my SGR on April 23rd a few years back, so it shouldn’t be much longer for several of you

@zettasyntax the general consensus here is that we will receive the letter before the portal but in last years thread a lot of people got the portal first… what are your thoughts?

Is there a usual order in which the schools release decisions? Like does it go Marshall first then Dorsnife, Anneberg etc.?

If they release packages first, wouldn’t we start seeing them in Informed Delivery now? TTP students “saw” their decisions in Informed Delivery first…

@anna717 What were you emailing her about? I can try to email mine and see lol

@thedailyjav Well, in 2014 (year I was rejected), I saw it on my portal around midnight. There was a rejection pdf for me to read. In 2015 (year I was accepted), I received my package before my portal updated. The letter was dated June 5th and I got in the mail the next day (Saturday, June 6th). I live really close to USC. For most, you’ll probably get the package first. I believe the portal updates first for those that live really far, but of course, there are always exceptions.

So for those USPS peeps, you now have a reason to be checking :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey for any SDA people, I called and asked and was told that decisions probably won’t be coming until May and that they can’t give acceptance info over the phone :frowning:

@StipendAwarded

Hey man! I have noticed that you have been posting a lot regarding your application. I know you desperately want to transfer as a sophomore, but you are asking questions that are either cannot be answered or that are very easy to find a response to via USC website.

Regarding your last concern, i think you can find the stats for SCA transfers on the university’s website. If not - there is probably no stat like that.

And about you application/portfolio: do not seek for other applicants’ work and try to repeat their achievements. If you have passion for what you do - just go for whatever your imagination can think of. The admission process is very personal to every applicant - you might have similar stats or portfolio to the student who was accepted, but personal characteristics and background is also considered.

Be creative ,but more importantly - be yourself.!

P.S. I know grades a hands down the most important factor when transferring. However, for SCA particularly, i think that showing something unique is crucial as well.

Something I forgot to mention, I’m not sure if it was stated on last year’s thread but I’m pretty sure that we established that decisions were usually made on Thursdays and/or Fridays, because I believe it takes 3 days to show up on the portal (a bunch of us found out on the portal on Sundays) and usually 1-2 days for the package to arrive to local addresses. So, first decisions may be rolling out at the end of the week. If not I’d expect them to start coming at the end of next week for sure.

@penntousc thank you that’s really helpful! Do you know if Dornsife decisions come out the first week?

@Elena1355 Dornsife/Marshall decisions will be first, yeah. Probably more Dornsife than Marshall though.

@Rickyandmorty did they email you that or was that on your portal (request for spring grades)
