2018 - 2019 USC Transfer

So, you all know how crazed I have been about my math prereq for Marshall. I feel SO much better.

I looked at an articulation agreement between my school and a community college nearby. I saw what my course equated to at that school. I then went to look at the articulation history between that CC and USC, and to my surprise, it is equivalent to MATH 118.

YES! ^:)^

this stress is taking a toll on my health

@Capital_Dan I am starting to draft an appeal already just in case. This process is consuming me alive.

I’m sure they would have sent them already if they wanted them out this weekend for marshall, but even so others have mentioned that you don’t receive a notification for a package from USC until the day it’s scanned in your hometown if that.

They won’t send out anything this week. Most likely the acceptances will start to come out next week in the 20s dates, and then it’ll come in waves until around mid May. Good luck everyone!

Hmm random question. Doubt anyone knows the answer, but in the wave of decisions we are expecting (most likely) next week, do you think these applicarions are still being reviewed now, or is the batch already done being reviewed and packaged up and ready to go?

Hey guys, been following the thread since it started, USC is a dream of mine as well. Had a question as in my required documents it now says that they need another college transcript and high school transcript. This is weird as I’ve submitted both and didn’t receive any sgr. any thoughts, or should I just email my counselor?

@aznboi4981 I don’t have a certain answer, but I’m sure they’ve already been reviewed. I think the first few acceptances will be for those who had a Dec 1st deadline.

@dabaker counselor, sometimes its just a mistake i had a similar thing

Going through last years thread, I am quite confident that Marshall is gonna get a bulk of decisions around the end of next week. Unfortunately for me, it seems that nobody with Calculus in progress was accepted without an SGR.

@Vincent1997 There’s still hope for that SGR. It could just be that your application was not reviewed.

@aznboi4981 He’s saying it’s unfortunate that he might get an SGR instead of getting straight up accepted. SGRs suck :(, way better than a rejection tho

@aznboi4981 I think I have to rephrase it a little bit. I am not worried about a rejection. I am worried about getting a SGR instead of a decision.

@NotLonelyIsland Yup! That’s what I mean haha

I am pretty confident about my application, but I have not finished Calculus. I’d be sad to get an SGR, simply because of this one class.

Ohhh, I see.

I mean I’d take the SGR over a rejection lol.

@aznboi4981 Perhaps, but it will make my planing hard. I have some other schools that I might have to commit to before then and to make it more complicated, I am not going to be in the states after June, so it would suck to not know before then.

have any of you heard about someone that has Writing 150 in progress and has been accepted with no SGR?? I am talking about Marshall specifically and I am an international student which means English is not my first language

SGR would pretty much mean a rejection for me. There’s no way I can wait until July for a decision because I’d have to commit to another school by then and make other big plans that require some time.

If I do not get into USC (and then my appeal is rejected), I am taking a year off. I prepared so last minute for the transfer process, but there is just no way I am returning to my current school.

@skiergirl34 yes i got into miami with 15k scholarship and lehigh. i dont think i have a good chance with usc, though. was rejected in high school.

@clan123 I’ve heard of students getting in without necessarily completing the writing requirement at all! They’ve been allowed to complete it over the summer. USC seems like they can be lenient with the writing requirement in some cases - not so much the math requirement though. I’d definitely contact your counselor to see what they say

@sunnydramatic Getting an SGR doesn’t mean you automatically hear back in July, but yeah, it could be very close to July depending on when your semester/quarter ends. Some people can hear back even in the same week after submitting spring grades, but yup, some can wait a lot longer. I know that I had to commit to another school before USC finally sent me their decision like 5 days later. They really can drag things out :stuck_out_tongue:

@dabaker It could be a mistake. I know that I had to submit my GED again after (assuming) that they had it on file (it did show up in received documents after all). My counselor personally emailed me though stating that he didn’t have it. So it would definitely be a good idea to contact your admissions counselor to be safe.
