2018 UCF Acceptance/Scholarship Thread

Guys, I have been accepted to UCF like months ago but have not seen any scholarships. I check the to do list but I do not see anything. Pretty sure I should have got the bronze one since I got a 1350 on my SAT. Who do I email? Cause the people on the phones are super useless telling me to wait some more even though I have waited for months now,

@iceelon21 I emailed the honors college and gained access to myHonors today! For those wondering, it includes application-received dates, anything that is missing from the application, seat reservation status, and Burnett Medical Scholar status. Doesn’t seem essential unless perhaps your application is taking longer due to missing items (ie. Personal statement, transcript, or co-curriculars form)

@DarkFlameCorn I have no knowledge as to how they decide scholarship, but I wonder if it depends on your major? If you applied for a competitive major, maybe SAT numbers are higher??? There will also be people who will give up their scholarship to go to other schools. UF decisions come out on Friday, maybe money will free up after that?? I do recall a couple of people who reported scholarship as late as March last year. I don’t want to give you false hope, but you may still see some money.

Yea I am waiting for the UF but still. I am pretty sure it is based heavily on SAT scores.

UCF was once my son’s 1st choice, as he loved the campus. To date, he still has no UCF decision, however he got into USF and FSU. He toured the FSU campus and chose it quickly as where he wanted to go. Housing deposit paid, FSU gains a great student. UCF loses one. Good to luck to everyone still stuck in the UCF limbo.

The Class of 2018 is huge- I live in the biggest county in NC and this will be it’s biggest graduating class. I think at UCF applying as early as possible is key. I went on the FSU thread and they are reporting that to qualify for freshman scholarship you have to have a 1420. There are a lot of applicants and a lot of competition.

@DarkFlameCorn - I agree SAT is weighed heavily- that’s probably why my D doesn’t have a scholarship. Keeping my fingers crossed for you for UF!

@DarkFlameCorn I got a 1350 and I got silver; you definitely should get silver.

@DarkFlameCorn , I am in the same boat with you. I applied in early November, it took them a month to admit me through Top 10 Knights, and as of today I still have received no word on a Merit Scholarship. My SAT is a 1500 (780 Math/ 720 CRW). I’m a Biology with Pre-Med concentration major. I even got accepted into the Burnett Honors College within a week of me submitting my application. It’s really frustrating having to keep waiting.

I applied November 1st for the fall term, I have all of the requirements for top 10 knights however, my admission status says “A decision has been deferred to allow you the opportunity to submit your official results from the SAT (College Board UCF code:5233) or ACT with (ACT UCF code:0735). If you have recently submitted scores to UCF, please allow processing time for the scores to be appropriately matched to your records.
Disclaimer: This is your current status. Your status is subject to change at any time depending upon receipt of new information and further review by the Admissions Committee.” I’ve tried emailing, i get no response. I’ve tried calling and they never give me straight forward answers. My official SAT scores are there, my dual enrollment and high school transcripts are there. Should I be worried, or should I just wait until march 1st as the top 10 knights says that I should receive my acceptance by then?

Also, top 10 knights says that an applicant who has all of those requirements is guaranteed admission to summer, fall, or spring. I’d be happy with either summer or fall but is it common at all to get offered for spring?

@marie99 I would keep trying to contact them…I am also a Top 10 Knight and it took me a while to get accepted too, but it never said Deferred. It’s a clear mistake on two counts: 1. Not accepting you and 2. Saying that they need your SAT when it’s there. Good luck, hope that gets fixed!

@Ella582 I had to email them at scholarships @ ucf.edu to get a straight answer. Turns out my residency was pending and they do not give scholarships to pending status students so that could be what is holding you back. Email them and ask. Even though I go to a Florida high school for the past 4 years and my home address is in Florida they put me as pending >:(
@rah5720 yo SAT score buddy xD, how much did they say silver is getting? I hope funding do not run out because I would be so salty

@DarkFlameCorn I literally emailed and got the same response today! At least we know now lol. Thing is, I’ve been waiting for the letter from the residency office since November and it never came. I just emailed the residency office but yeah, I also hope funding didn’t run out. Kind of unfair if I got qualifying scores, but won’t get a scholarship because they failed to send me that…

@iceelon21 Do you know what the best form of contact is to be able to get the answers I need? Like i said my status has said that since about mid November and i have sent numerous emails with no responses and when I get them on the phone they always say things like “We have everything we need” or “your status will remain the same until a final decision is made” but I know for a fact I have top 10 knights! I’m almost tempted to go to the campus and speak with someone directly but I’m not sure if thats very professional of me or even aloud to be honest.

I got $10k like i already got the letter! @DarkFlameCorn

Is there a way to check residency status in MyUCF? Maybe that’s my problem too. When I asked about scholarships they gave me a really generic response about GPA and test scores. As if my GPA was low (it’s 4.71). My SAT is only 1290, but now I’m wondering.

Did you guys have a Hold or a To Do in MyUCF asking for residency proof?

@UCFin2018 I believe it’s Undergrad Admissions>Application Status, and if you scroll to the bottom it should be there.

It IS! Thank you! Unfortunately, they really just don’t want to give me a scholarship - they have Florida as my residency. :frowning:

Speaking of which, it’s kind of a blow that this whole time, they haven’t even reviewed me for scholarships just bc of residency.

I applied months ago and they said I’d get a letter from the residency office in 2 weeks, telling me which documents they want. (Still haven’t gotten it.) I still went to UCF in person anyway with some documents to prove residency, and they turned it away since I wasn’t given that letter. So now they’re telling me I might lose out on scholarship funding because of a mistake on their part?

I emailed the residency office asking to just tell me what they need, and they responded today. I’m gonna go to UCF tomorrow with the docs, but if they turn me away again I guess I’ll show them the residency office’s email…right now I’m just hoping for the best.

To those who are having issues with the residency status for scholarships I feel for you guys. My S18 had the exact same problem. All they needed was a copy of my driver’s license and a second form of residency proof. I sent a copy of my voter’s registration card.

I was so frustrated that I emailed those 2 copies to the head of the scholarship dept. In my email I stated that, which was true, that at no time was S18 informed there was missing residency docs. No emails, nothing on his status page, etc. I stated I was rather upset that S18 now had to wait 4-6 weeks after receipt to find out about a scholarship due to an error of which S18 knew nothing about. I also added his test scores and GPA. I ended the email thanking him for his time and asked if he could try to get the residency paperwork completed sooner than 4-6 weeks.

S18 was informed by the guy within hours of me sending the email he had received the scholarship.

His name is Luke Van Blaricom. The email is his name Luke dot vanblaricom at UCF.edu. I also send the copies to the residency email. Though I think it was Luke who got it completed.

Luke is a great contact to have! He is head of the National Merit Program and has helped me out immensely through the long PSAT to National Merit Finalist process! I was unaware that he was involved with other scholarships, but I guess that makes sense. He’s very responsive so just send him an email he should reply within a day! Sorry so many of you are having residency issues. There is enough stress related to entering college and university miscommunication to students shouldn’t be one of them. On the bright side, I can’t wait to go to UCF next year!!
