2018 UCF Acceptance/Scholarship Thread

@sprucecourt you could contact them and tell them you’d like to be considered for Summer. It seems easier to get in for Summer. Though, honestly, I think you’ll get in eventually with a 1320 and a 3.8. (Sorry, just noticed - your son, not you.)

Does anyone know why Fall term is better than Summer term? Cause when I sent 1180 sat score I got accepted into UCF for the summer term, but after I sent my 1350 I got an email stating that they are now offering me Fall. Shouldn’t Summer term be better since you are allowed to choose Summer or Fall?

Not as many students apply for summer. So if your stats aren’t stellar, it’s easier to get in for summer. If they let you in for summer you have to go for summer. Or you can’t go. As long as you go for summer though, you are in for all future semesters too. I don’t know that one or the other is “better” other than lots of support and activities are planned for incoming Freshmen in Fall because that’s when the majority start.

@UCFin2018 ah, i see. So what housing should I apply for? I don’t want the towers since that is really expensive but the others are decent. Thinking about getting an apartment so I have my privacy.

My daughter was also notified that she received the Provost scholarship but we do not know what that means. I cannot find the amount of the scholarship awarded. Did they give you an amount awarded?

S received his official in state Provost Scholarship letter today. $30,000 over 4 years, and he can stack it on top of Bright Futures! Go Knights! Charge on!

@Parman37 your gpa is like .1 and SAT scores is +20 higher than mine. I think I may get the Silver too! I wonder why mine isn’t out yet.

@DarkFlameCorn I hope so. I don’t know if it matters when you applied. I can’t remember the date but it was well before the deadline when I applied. Hoping for the best for you!

I am hoping someone can answer my question. My S has applied as of 10/30. He used the Common App, and according the Status on the Common App, it shows that all of his required documentation has been downloaded by UCF. Per the UCF Portal and an email from UCF, it states it will take 3-7 business days for electronic transfer of transcripts. No biggie. However, as of today, the UCF Portal still shows WAITING FOR TRANSCRIPT. He is currently dual enrolled, and it does state that college transcripts are only needed at time of admission. Would anyone know why it would still be in this state of WAITING? He did send an email to UCF asking this question, and he did get a response back that his concern would be forwarded to the Operations Department. Hmm… Does he really need to have the college transcripts for admission decision? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@22grad My son was in the same situation. It took forever for them to download the high school transcript and once it finally got there, we got a notice saying they wanted his college transcript because he was dual enrolled. I sent it via electronic transfer and as soon as it arrived (guess they needed to confirm the college grades) he was accepted the next day, even though his portal says his college transcript had not been downloaded yet. We also got notice of Pegasus Gold for out of state students on the first day of notifications even though his portal STILL said they had not put his college transcript into they system - but they must have looked at since they day after its arrival is when the acceptance happened. I would suggest you send the college transcript now.

I guess his college would be able to electronic transfer them? Someone told me they only did regular postal mail for those. If this is the case, then UCF should update their portal and say that they are required for decision. Just adds time and confusion to the matter.

Congrats @Parman37 When did you apply, and when did you receive your acceptance decision?

Congratulations @Parman37 - did the scholarship amount show up in your my ucf acct under to do? Or was the amount only noted in a mailed letter?

My son just received the OOS Pegasus Gold letter today. $38,000 over the four years.

Have you all posted stats yet? GPA, SAT score, etc?

Got our letter today too, $38,000 Pegasus Gold OOS, 30 days to accept or extend. By the way, how long do you get if you extend, we won’t hear from his first choice until January 31… Never mind, it is until May 1.

Congratulations @parentofastudent and @BillyMadison123 and thank you for posting- we are OOS and received Gold Pegasus but haven’t received the letter yet. I am assuming that all OOS Pegasus Gold will be 38,000 since both of you are OOS and received Gold.

Thank you. I found out through a snail mail letter. I don’t see it in my portal because I have not “Accepted” to attend, yet. The instructions say I have to select Accept, Decline, or Extend. I don’t see Extend as an option so I need to call them. It does say they would hold the scholarship until May 1st.

My Son also received $38000 for Pegasus Gold.
