2019 UCF Waitlist

I just wanted to hear from other people that recently got waitlisted from UCF.

I applied through the Common App on October 8th, got deferred in January, and waitlisted in March.

Term: Fall 2019
In State/Out of State: In State
Unweighted GPA: 3.5
Weighted GPA: 4.1
ACT/SAT scores: 1230
Intended Major: Psychology

These are my personal stats, but could you guys share your stats too please?

My son applied through the common app in October, he was pending or deferred at some point before December. Then his new scores were sent after the October SAT then nothing for awhile (even though he called a few times) and now waitlisted. This has been such a frustrating process and stressful now because UCF is his first choice. We know several other kids from his school with similar scores and stats who have been waiting since the fall :frowning:

Term: Fall 2019
In State/Out of State: In State
Unweighted GPA: 3.7
Weighted GPA: 4.7
ACT/SAT scores: 1240
Intended Major: Engineering or Finance

Trying not to be discouraged. Hoping you both get positive news soon!

I also just got waitlisted this morning. I’m not worried though because I’m more interested in FSU and have already been accepted there.

Term: Fall 2019
In State/Out of State: In State
Unweighted GPA: 3.0
Weighted GPA: 4.0
ACT/SAT scores: 1440 SAT, 29 ACT
Intended Major: Physics

My daughter is on the wait list. They state that they will be looking as early as April15 and ending May 31. I’m worried there will be no housing, and she will not get the classes she wants. Intended major - School of Visual Arts and Design. I didn’t know this would be so competitive. Keeping our fingers crossed. Otherwise it will be a community college and applying as a transfer. She got into LSU, but the OOS tuition is close to 45K. a year.

My daughter was waitlisted and this past week received letter inviting her to start summer term. Does anyone know if this is contingent upon her acceptance for fall term?

@Summer0712 – I think you have it backwards! You should definitely call them to confirm, but it sounds like she has been accepted for the fall, contingent on her willingness to start in the summer. Why else would they invite her to start summer term if they were not going to allow her to continue? Congratulations!!!

Thank you, but i am concerned because wording on the the letter states…we are presenting you with an alternative option for enrollment. :frowning:

@Summer0712 – Yes, I am pretty sure the alternative is for your daughter to start in the summer instead of the fall. Of course, don’t send them any money until you call to confirm, but I’m betting that you are good to go as long as she is willing to start in the summer.

Right, and thats a problem because she wont even be graduated from HS yet during orientation if i am reading correctly. I did my own research. I was just wondering if this happened to anyone else and what the outcome was. It would be impossible to start that early. Its ashame because she really loves the school… Thank you!!

@Summer0712 – in that case, that really sucks. I assume that means you are not in Florida, since school seems to end earlier there than up north. I’ve also seen this happen with UF. They are apparently using the wait list to try to fill out their summer enrollment, with the carrot that they are then allowing you to sort of “back door” your way into the school for the fall.

If it doesn’t work for you, I’m afraid your daughter won’t be going to UCF, because the majority of their applicants are from Florida, the majority of the wait list is from Florida, and they will certainly find people from the wait list who are willing and able to start in the summer in order to be accepted.

At this point, you have nothing to lose by having your daughter call them tomorrow, explaining her situation, and asking if they will let her start in the fall. If they say no, at least you will have taken it as far as you can.

@NJDad00-Thank you for responding to my “vents”… correct. we are in NewJersey and it does suck. I have email out to them and i will call tomorrow, but I think we both know what the outcome will be. I will keep you posted. ?

@Summer0712 A lot of the kids not just from up north start summer classes online so that they do nit have to move in right away. UCF is well aware that New York and New Jersey students often graduate right when summer semester starts so it will not be a problem. She just has to do a class or two online. Your daughter will have to fly down some time in May or June to do orientation

What course did your daughter apply to? Sorry to ask … and what gpa and sat?

@Summer0712 What course did your daughter apply to? Sorry to ask … and what gpa and sat?

I’ve been on the waitlist since February it said today they make their first change but so far nothing has changed. Really hoping I get in because my friends with low SAT scores made it in without hassle
GPA: 3.6
Unweighted: 4.2
SAT: 1040
Program: Pre veterinary
I was super active in school did clubs etc.

@kiwiinit I hope that you get in!

This whole process is frustrating! I wish they would tell us sooner than May 31st, it is such a late date to let students know if they made it in or not.

Any answer?

Yes! I was accepted ?

Hey, when did you find out? I’ve been waiting since early March and it’s pretty frustrating.
