2019-2020 USC Transfer

Would getting a B in my first year writing class lower my chances of admission? I got straight A’s last quarter but it looks like I’ll end up with one B… any thoughts? I’m seriously stressing out so much over this

One B in a class that probably isn’t even in your major related course work is not going to be the thing they will reject you for. Please don’t be freaked out over one college’s interpretation of you as a student. Its the most self degrading act to let your mind go crazy hoping that somebody else will accept you into their sphere. The healthier route to handling this stress is having multiple back up plans that also excite you. There is always a way to where you want to be and if you don’t believe that then you will always be trapped in a mindset that lets you fall prey to others’ agendas.

Great wisdom @bksyazd , had all my schools selected on the basis that I would love attending regardless of the outcome. Hope future applicants take that into account, it alleviates massive amounts of pressure/ unnecessary stress.

@Snekfest Exactly! I have about 3 guaranteed back up scenarios…all of which I would be so excited to make realities. As long as you are willing to work hard and be adaptable without losing your values, the world is yours for the taking!

Hi! Does anyone know if transfer applicants can be accepted as spring semester?

@okaecollege Yeah I know they can. I remember there was a youtuber in that position! But lets just hope you get in for the fall

Hellooo I’m currently a sophomore at community college and I applied as a junior transfer to Roski School of Art! Does anyone have any insight on admissions for prospective visual art students? I know the process is different for us because we have a portfolio/separate essays and resume involved

Also does anyone have a clue as to when decisions for Roski transfers begin to come out? I didn’t see any Roski transfers in last year stats thread.

@mapofthesoul - There is no reason to believe they would come out at a different time than everyone else. The issue is transfer acceptance run from very end of March through May, and sometimes well into June or beginning of July because of spring grade requests. Some kids don’t finish their quarter till mid June and they may want to see those grades.

Around April 1st, it really wouldn’t hurt to call Roski and ask if they have an idea when acceptances will be sent. They may just tell you at that point. Good luck!

does ending the semester later (around mid june) affect my chances of getting in? idk why this is stressing me so much but it is

It really shouldn’t at all. Yes, they have an idea of who they are admitting before your school year ends and sometimes the SGR is a validation before the formal and final decision. (Some get request, some don’t.) But it’s not like they put your application aside until June. It is right in there with the rest of them through the entire process. But honestly, your wait can be brutal…hang in there. Good luck!

@CADREAMIN Thank you, I will call when April 1st roles around! I was scrolling through last year’s thread and it seemed as if apllicants from certain schools were recieving decisions earlier or later than others ( I remember seeing SCA and Annenberg applicants finding out later than others) so i just figured choice in major might have an impact on when we find out.

I am a Business Admin major (I have TTP). If I took a Math 118 equivalent with a Business Calculus course instead of Calc 1 or 2, I should be fine, right?

@jj1999 I would assume. My boyfriend was on TTP and he ended up taking business calc and he was fine and still got in as planned. He did also take Calc 1 though during a short term semester prior to his transfer but I wouldn’t worry honestly I’m sure you’re fine. If you’re still worried just email your counselor

Does anyone think the admissions scandal will have an impact on this year’s accepted students?

Unlikely.

@jj1999 you will be fine. Business Calculus will transfer for sure.

@1999 you might want to check the articulation agreement USC has with your college just to make sure, especially if your college is on a quarter system vs. USC’s semester.

I think it might affect the timing a bit of the letters since the admissions office maybe a bit preoccupied with the scandal.

@UCBUSCalum I’m taking a class that is equivalent to Math 118, which is Business Calculus.
