2019-2020 USC Transfer

@taki123 found it using your trick, thank you!

when exactly did admission decisions come out for transfers last year? anyone know? last year’s thread is hundreds of pages long so i can’t find it lol

@mapofthesoul No worries! Goodluck :slight_smile:

@bksyazd I am doing Global Business and my second choice major

Admission decisions for transfers range between end of March to end of May with some not getting in until June because of SGRs. By May 31st is all they specify.

Has there been anyone who got the TTP, got rejected again, even though they made the GPA, right classes, and did 30 units? I’m worried about my chances, even with TTP.

@CADREAMIN I heard that we are able to know our acceptance through tracking packages on USPS? What is this all about and how can I do this starting in April?

Regular decisions are not on my USPS because of the volume sent and USC doesn’t enable the tracking of them. Some transfer packages or performance admits may be because they are sent out in small amounts or individually.

Frankly, not sure why anyone would want to find out their acceptance to USC, a once in a lifetime event, on a USPS website an hour or two before it arrives. I would much prefer mine (which they all did) to have that mailbox/porch moment where they see the box. You have no idea how unforgettable that kind of moment is until it happens. Mine all still talk about getting/finding the box (even better when not expected)! To me it’s like ruining Christmas morning by telling the kids what is in the packages when they get out of bed, before they see they tree and unwrap presents.

imo anyway.

Hi all!
Newbie to the thread and was wondering if anyone else got an e-mail requesting an interview via Skype? I applied to the SCA and didn’t know interviews were a thing.

@CADREAMIN oh I didn’t know the packages would be able to be tracked if it’s an hour or two before arrival. Even if it’s a day or two I don’t mind just waiting then. I thought we would be able to track a week or two before arrival. You’re right, I’ll just wait for the package.

I have another question, in addition to the admit package, does usc notify transfer admits through the college portal too?

@GoodAfternoonSir Yes, they do update your portal as well. According to the counselors at USC, they generally wait 3 days after sending out your acceptance package before updating your portal. USC really aims to have you find out by receiving the package in the mail.

@vegastransfer so I know that the acceptance package is a pretty good size. I have a really tiny mailbox lol will they just leave it on my doorstep then. Haha I don’t know ?‍♂️

I am applying as a business major and I have only completed the math prereq. I am scheduled to finish the English prereq next quarter. I ended my first quarter with a 4.0 and this quarter will probably be a little lower. DO you guys think I can still get accepted or will I get an SGR??

Yes they will leave it on the doorstep if it doesn’t fit in the mailbox, or wherever your mailperson leaves packages. No signature required, so is is left.

Can anyone chance me?
I’m applying as an undergrad to USC with a major in Business Adminstration - Finance focuses
I am transferring from a Cc with roughly a 3.79 GPA
I have heard that USC likes to say an uptrend in grades throughout your semesters and I believe I did just that
My first semester I had three B’s and a W, after my first semester I got my act together and Aced every course and did not get a single w, however I did get a B in business calculus my last semester.
I have above 60 units, and I have a lot of work experience, such as working at a bank and at small businesses.
I am very nervous about my decision, and I know that no one here can answer for the admission counselors, but I wanted some sense of closure.
Thank you!

Did anyone’s common app status show complete? Has it always been that way? I can’t remember if it said in progress or complete after they received everything

@MrSir323 Everyone’s common app shows a status of complete if you submitted the application on time.

Speaking of your grades, having a “B” in Business Calculus is not ideal because Business Calculus is a class that USC considers a lot when it comes to admission.

One or two, even three “W” won’t hurt you, as long as your last semester and this semester don’t have any “W”.

And yes, USC likes to see upward trend. Best of luck!

Makes sense.
I did talk to a counselor on transfer day and he said you shouldn’t worry about your B as long as everything else is strong, so let’s see

@vinukh I heard that if SCA is interested in you, then they’ll send you an email requesting an interview. not too sure though, so don’t quote me on that. what major did you apply to if you don’t mind me asking?

I applied as a Film and Television Production major. However, I did look up interview request for the past years and it seems as if though it doesn’t really mean anything. Appears to just be a way of getting to know you better.

How does USC determine transfer GPA? My current university uses A+, which counts as a “GPA booster” technically, but still caps out at 4.00, as in no one can get higher than that overall GPA, even though an A+ is worth 4.33.

Or does USC calculate GPA excluding A+'s? Or do they calculate using only transferable courses?

Just trying to understand how GPA is calculated when they say the “average” is a 3.7-3.8
