I thought freshman applicants receive their decisions by April 1st and transfers receive it by March 31st. Apparently, Freshman are getting their decisions on March, 21st. Does anyone know if the transfer decisions still come out later than the freshmans or are our decisions moved up also?
Edit: I’m TTP so do we get our decisions faster? sorry, if this has been asked before
@riceballs99 “All transfer applicants who submit a complete application by the February deadline will receive a request for spring grades or an admission decision by the end of May”.
“All first-year applicants who submitted a complete application by the January deadline will be mailed an admission decision by April 1”.
So for transfers, we can start getting notified from the end of March till the end of May.
Does anyone know if USC will send a package to my current address or my permanent address? Because they are in different countries so… it would be good to know. (My current address is in the US and valid until late May)
This thread is way more active than the TTP thread, so I’ll join this one. But, the waiting is starting to get stressful ssince they announced that they are sending out freshman notifications.
@Zoe528 Yeah the wait sucks especially seeing how freshman decisions are being released now. Makes the wait for us transfers all the more gritty. I wish the days would pass over faster so that when the time comes for our decisions, if we get accepted there’s a lot of work to be done, from completing housing applications to selling your furniture on craigslist lol to other miscellaneous tasks. I live about 5 hours away from LA so if I do choose to attend USC, it’s going to consume alot of my time.
Ya there’s really only two all-time running threads, Class of xxxx of for reg decision and this one for transfers. This one will remain busy and active through transfer season for sure. The other threads tend to provide more info on certain aspects of the school or programs etc., but these are the threads of angst, excitement and everything in between that run active year round while people wait for decisions.
I know of TTPs that found out when regular applicants did which I am not sure how common that is, but generally they should get news earlier than some. Overall, I think most TTPs hear in April if everything their first semester/quarter was stellar, but last year a 4.0 TTP didn’t hear until much later, toward end of April, early May ugh. We couldn’t figure out what the delay was, except now we know the class was over-enrolled, so maybe they were making more sure of figures of freshman applicants before accepting transfers of any kind. If they need to send out an SGR, that sloooows things down.
For example, the one I know that got in super early was on quarter and posted a 4.0 in first quarter, and had applied to USC with a 4.5 and 34 ACT out of HS (ya, actually should of got in straight away, right)?! So it was a no brainer they were getting in, they didn’t need to see more. But same could be said for the 4.0 last year, however last year’s class was so over-enrolled that I think it was more painful than usual for transfer notifications because of all the commits of regular decision.
So it depends on overall application of individual and which schools they applied to. Some schools (like Viterbi) tend to accept transfers in bunches at a certain time which in past has been midish to later April. Sorry for long answer, but it can be very random.
But yes, overall, TTP should hear earlier, just hate to get hopes up and induce agony, cause they are in charge!
@zoe528 Yes it is unnecessarily brutal. They should guarantee it with a certain GPA. Like Cornell does, a guaranteed admissions path. This “highly likely” doesn’t do anybody any good. And when you meet with counselors in the summer, you can get the either the sweet, “we’d love to have you” counselor that proves helpful throughout, or the entitled “you should consider yourself lucky that we are even considering you for TTP” type that you never want to contact again in fear of repercussions. Needs to be more consistent.
if my gpa drops this quarter, is there a possibility that USC will reject me instead of requesting for spring grades? it looks like im getting a B in one of my classes so my GPA will drop a lot help im freaking out
@wanjunhing Nope… First of all they won’t know till you send official transcripts which is after you get admitted. Second, a B won’t freak them out. It’s a B not a D.
