@fallenchemist any predictions on how much scholarship I’ll get? Can’t wait to receive the letter

For some reason I feel like I’m not going to get accepted. If I have a 32 ACT, 3.67 UW GPA, hard course load Junior & Senior year, Good ECs, and did the optional essay, am I getting accepted???

No matter how many times I read this thread and all 462 posts before this, I can’t help but think I’m not going to be accepted. I applied early September and this is my top choice, but I’ve only got a 27 on the ACT and that just doesn’t seem to be good enough. Also, only a 3.9 GPA on a 4.0 scale so theres that. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Only 9 more days and I no longer have to dread it.

Decision: Accepted!
Applied SCEA on 11/15, with art portfolio about 3 days later.

Undecided (but indicated on art submission may major in studio art)

Objective:

ACT (breakdown): 29 C but sent other scores that superscored to a 31
SAT II (place score in parentheses): didn’t submit
Unweighted GPA (out of 100): 93.4, weighted: 96
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): Doesn’t rank
AP (place score in parentheses): World (4), English Lang (3), US (4)
Senior Year Course Load: AP: Psych, Lit, Macro, Art, BC Calc
Major Awards: A Congressional Art Award and scholarship, some lesser art stuff

Subjective:

Job/Work Experience: None
Volunteer/Community Service: Girl Scout Silver award, Tutoring an orphan, volunteer in a physical therapy office to work with developmentally delayed kids
Summer Activities: Worked as pool attendant. Past summer took a 3 credit course at School of Visual Arts
Essays:Used common app essay on how my long term friends have turned on me. Very heartfelt. Thought the “why Tulane” was great because tied into how I am looking for a new experience.
Teacher Recommendations: Great
Counselor Rec: Great
Additional Rec: Art Teacher

Other

State (if domestic applicant): Long Island, NY

Got the Academic Achievement Scholarship of $20,000 a year! Can’t believe it because of so/so ACT. Kept in close contact with my admission rep. Attended local event. Tulane essay well thought out. Submitted art portfolio. Glad they looked at all my qualifications and not just a score. Can’t wait to visit.

Decision: Accepted

School/major: honestly forget what i put… undecided?

Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): school does not report unweighted but 92/100 weighted

Extracurriculars (: average ECs

State (if domestic applicant): CT
Country (if international applicant):
School Type: private

Gender: female

CANNOT BELIEVE I GOT IN! I was totally ready to get rejected/deferred. I applied way back in September and thought that due to my relatively low GPA and no APs I had no shot. To people that are still waiting there’s hope! So happy!

Also I’m assuming I just barely made the cut so it’s unlikely I will get any sort of merit aid with a 2060 and a 92 gpa does that sound about right? If not, it’s not the end of the world as my family can probably afford it but some aid would obviously be nice.

I got my acceptance letter about a month ago, am SO EXCITED TO BE ACCEPTED!!! with $32,000 presidential scholarship award and honors invitation!!! I LOVE TULANE!

@fallenchemist‌ I was admitted on the 3rd, my Gibson says admitted (I checked on 6 different occasions just to make sure). Am I supposed to recieve an email or letter soon? I haven’t gotten anything yet. Probably me just being nervous.

Do they tell you anything about merit scholarships on the Gibson site, or is that information in the actual letter you receive?

Letters arrive about a week after Gibson shows that you are admitted. Those letters will also contain any merit award.

I’ve been checking Gibson obsessively since the beginning of November, and I just got accepted this afternoon! I’m the only person that I know of to be accepted from Iowa so far. So excited about the acceptance and anxious to find out about the merit aid!

Decision: Accepted

School/major: Undecided

[]Counselor Rec: Probably decent

[ul]
[]State (if domestic applicant): Iowa
[]School Type: Public, about 2000 students
[]Ethnicity: White
[]Gender: Female
[li]Income Bracket: ~ $150,000[/li][/ul]

Reflection

[ul]
[]Strengths: Wrote “Why Tulane?”, went to a regional reception, emailed my admissions counselor a few times
[]Weaknesses: Low SAT score compared to ACT score, low UW GPA
[]Where else you are applying or have already applied: Accepted: U of Iowa, Saint Louis University. Waiting for a decision: Georgetown, USC, Boston University
[]General Comments/Advice/Hindsight: Sent in my application way before the deadline in late September, so it appears that it really doesn’t matter how soon you send in your application, you could still have to wait until very close to the deadline for a decision.
[/ul]

Still nothing… Preparing myself for the rejection soon to happen.

I didn’t get any merit scholarship or honors program invite in my letter … I am very confused and scared. My stats must be in the top 1 or 2% of applicants to Tulane, my ECs are strong, I wrote the optional essay, and there was nothing arrogant or rude or dismissive in my application.

I hope this was a mistake on the behalf of the admissions office or that they just need to confirm my interest, because otherwise I don’t know what I’m going to do. Tulane is my top choice right now and I can’t afford it without that money.

@StagNation did you email them asking about it? I think it’s definitely a mistake. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t have at least gotten the Distinguished scholarship.

Got an email from Tulane yesterday that was asking for update of my decision… Don’t we have till may to decide?.

You do have until May, of course. Schools where you have been accepted often inquire if you have decided where to attend, be it them or another school, so they can see how the class is shaping up. In this case they know a lot of students are starting to get ED decisions, so they are hoping you will let them know if you are committed to another school. Just a reminder, really. No pressure, just ignore it if you are still deciding/awaiting other decisions.

@outtocollege2015‌

@StagNation‌

I agree with @engineering2015‌. There is nothing wrong with showing awareness that others with similar stats got significant merit awards. Just be polite, naturally.

@fallenchemist‌ what score range would typically be rewarded the lowest of merit aid? I’m not expecting much if anything at all as my stats seem pretty average for Tulane, so just wondering. Thanks!
