lol WHAT!!
I don’t need more stress than APs and preparing for ISEF lol
But at least they are telling us some thing after the absolute of dry spiel of an application cycle
Stressed and worried, yet excited!
Yeah I got rejected. I knew it was coming, lol like 3 out of the 12 selected students are on this thread, there are so few sports and i had no chance anyways.
Going through 12 programs and getting rejected from 11 of them, this has only taught me two things, take college classes to boost gpa higher than peers to be more competitive, and to spend WAY more time on essays and teacher reccs. I spent 3 weeks over winter break writing my essays, but ultimately I feel that I should have been spending AT LEAST 2-3 hrs per day editing until the application due date instead of doing it over winter break and not touching it much afterwards, there is always more work to be done.
I was lucky to get off the waitlist for 1 of the 12 programs I applied to, at Ohio State University (which is close to where I live), but tbh its honestly a little discouraging i did not get into anywhere else.
do more volunteering (every dang application asks about community and impact), everyone is screwed for teacher reccs (even if you do well in the class- they will send a basic recc, they dont really care and hate to write reccs), and take more college classes. GPA is literally the first thing they look at, and one of the AOs for Clark scholars said during a zoom meeting for Texas Tech Admissions a few weeks back that they literally don’t even look at the rest of the application if gpa and ecs are bad or even just average
Frustrated yes, Did i expect it, yes and i have been posting here for weeks about it tbh.
Thank god this over and I finally have an answer, even negative, because there is always more work I have to do, personally and academically
Even still, Congrats to everyone who has made it. It is a amazing research program and opportunity.
Rejected as well, though I spent hours, editing and perfecting my essays.
Am 2-times ISEF finalist, 3 times presidential Volunteer Gold award winner with 500+ hours of volunteering. Rank 1/787 students with gpa of 4.79 and am a rising senior. So one never knows what they are looking for…Good luck to ones who made it to the program.
