No. Some users register months ago but never post untilnow. You can click on their name to see their join date. Personally, I take users with improbable stories who have 1 post and joined a minute before posting with a huge grain of salt. When I am fairly certain the post is not genuine, I take action. However, I can’t always prove a troII post.
So believe it or don’t believe it. That’s every user’s choice. But then they need to move on, since I will not abide by “prove it” or “you’re lying” posts, as examples, because that’s just bad behavior that violates ToS.
@ziveli513 I may not be a long time CC user (only 3 years) but I’ve been around long enough to know that there are many many many people who show up, create an account, and post improbable things for the sole purpose of ‘riling up’ the people who are watching the thread. It happens every year. It happened today. Can we prove that they are lying? Of course not. But I’m not naive and I feel terrible for the poor kids and parents that fall for it…and they do fall for it.
@STEM2017 I see it all of the time too. The decision thread has long time posters on there all of the time. People who post questions on other threads and then when they get a decision, post it on the decision thread. Sometimes we are all waiting to see if someone got in because we’ve gotten to know that poster so well in other threads! But the just joined, first post on the decision thread posters, I take with a huge grain of salt. Anyone can come on here and say anything. People have even been known to create more than one account just to agree with themselves. That happens every year too. People can do all kinds of weird things here. I trust most people, but if someone just joined and has one post that seems like an anomaly and won’t answer messages asking for more information, I consider them likely untrustworthy and others probably should as well.
It took a little over 2 months before I received my admissions decision. Although the waiting is long and stressful, they will have decisions out by 12/24 (according to their site), so don’t lose hope!
I hope you all receive the news you are waiting for!
National Letter of Intent day is May 1, nobody is gonna lose anything by finding out they are or are not going to PSU on December 24th. If you feel that OSU is a better school and dont want to wait a dozen days to find out what PSU says go to OSU… I mean it isnt that stressful of a thing really. And lets all be honest here, if we have kids applying to PSU and are waiting to hear by the EA date (12/24) weve already probably got some pretty solid Acceptances. It will be fine.
@nittanylion1510, @amomoffour just saw admissions replied to my email checking in yesterday
Her application has been complete since aug 15, no problem
Admissions says they got 50,000 early action applications
And that we will definitely hear an answer by 12/24
Thanks for your support @amomoffour, 5 months is longer than we expected that’s all
@ziveli513 Lots of people are awaiting their decisions, whether you receive it in a few days or right now, it doesn’t matter as long as you get a decision.
@nittanylion1510 your application was completed when the checklist on the right side of portal showed all checked off
and When complete there is a message saying we have all we need and your application is under review
Fingers crossed you hear soon @nittanylion1510 , we have been waiting together for a while now ?
Nobody should worry about housing till March. In the meantime, since freshmen have several choices, there’s time to compare pros/cons for each option, ask questions…
Also, remember that if you switched majors in the middle od the process, you’re still EA but are considered with the applicants who switched at the same time as you did, not with your original date, since you switch piles (ie., your file goes to another reviewer who takes it in the order received).
Finally, the consensus in past years is that waiting feels super long but once the decision’s in the applicant doesn’t care. Those who did care probably gave up as other, quicker choices materialized.
@MYOS1634 Good point about the changing majors mid process. People don’t seem to think about this and/or don’t consider the advice given to just hang tight with the major they chose. Unless someone applies to major WAY outside of the realm of possibility (a 3.3 GPA applying to Smeal for example), it is likely quicker and better to just hang on and wait to see what happens.
When you apply, the files get moved all around and end up on different people’s desks. Once it is at the final desk, they go in order (but they got to that desk in random order because of all of the different piles applications end up in). When you change, you are pulled out of the pile you were in and set on someone else’s pile and then it filters down to a different desk. Therefore, when you ask to have your application major changed, you delay the process.
Well @jlhpsu, Major was changed after waiting 4 months…
But yes that may have delayed some at the end
Though when changed admissions confirmed still early action, though “piles” of course admissions won’t comment on, I asked
Because I did consider might delay if change major
Changing intended major to DUS was a good idea for d, represents her changing ideas and plans
DUS description sounds very appealing to her
And she’s cool with waiting, I’m the one who is frustrated
D has no idea this forum and all the feedback even exists lol ?
