hi all. i just finished my waitlist LOCI supplement but im having trouble submitting. First of all: does anyone know who we should address the letter to? I know it’s typically your regional admissions officer but since we submit in the portal and not emailing the admissions officer, is it someone different?
is anyone submitting third quarter grades? on the portal, they say they discourage the submission of any extra materials beyond just a letter, but another waitlisted school asked me for another grade report.
Different schools ask for different things. If Columbia does not want it, don’t send it.
Address it to whole admissions team and to the regional officer.
should we send separately to both - the admissions office (through portal) and regional officer (through email)?
I called admissions and the preferred option is through your portal, the woman I spoke with said not to send email to regional officer or at least that that’s not the preferred choice.
Hi. Did y’all saved login credentials have an extra line now?
? What does this mean?
There’s a new line: studentviewer.financial.aid.columbia.edu
On the login which had only had the columbia Id
As far as additional letters of recommendation go, I know that on the waitlist letter they advise against additional information, but the person at admissions who I spoke with yesterday said that sending 1 additional letter in would be permissible. Can sending another letter in hurt my chances?
Anyone has any idea about how they pick from the waitlist? i.e. Do they do geographic quotas or do all waitlisted applicants receive equal consideration if a spot opens?
no idea all i know is its not ranked
i’m not sure if it would hurt, but I don’t know if I’d risk if if the Waitlist FAQ explicitly states that they “do not encourage the submission of additional letters of recommendation.”
I’m not sure about Columbia specifically, but waitlists in general from my understanding are to fill racial/geographic/other gaps they might have to some extent I think, so I’m sure some factors like those are possibly weighted more now if I had to guess?
Yeah, I guess this sounds plausible. thx.
Not sure if this will help, but this video was posted last year and they talked to a former Columbia admissions officer about how the waitlist works there: How To Win The College Waitlist Game - YouTube
From what she says, the waitlist is to meet the quotas or “holes” they need to fill in the incoming class.
Thanks a lot.
Hi. Does anyone FA Portal says under the documents section CSS And income tax documents, are required for packaging?
Yes, mine says they are required for packaging. Is this a change from what it originally used to be?
