I haven’t seen a thread for the Columbia waitlists yet. I know that they don’t release their CDS like everyone else (boo) but does anyone have any numbers about how many get off their WL and how many are offered a spot?
I believe I saw 31 were accepted last year off the waitlist. No idea how many were offered the waitlist or how many accepted spots on the waitlist. It would be nice to know those numbers. For example, Yale offered 1000 waitlist spots this year, that is posted in their portal - I am sure not all of those spots will be taken, because probably some of them were accepted into other ivies and some won’t want to go through the wait.
that’s such a small number… i’m still holding out hope and putting my whole energy into my LOCI then.
Or you could say that the chance of getting off the WL is about the same as getting in RD…
I think the chance of getting in off the waitlist is really a lot lower than getting in RD. There are reports of some of the Ivies putting 1000-2000 on the waitlist and taking 0 to 50 (not percentages, actually 0 or 50 students) off the list. Not good odds.
IMO, the waitlist says “You are great, but we just don’t have room for everyone.”
I’m not saying you can count on it (just like you can’t on an acceptance). I was responding to the example given - sample of 34 at Columbia, 1000 at Yale… which I think is not too far off average numbers if you go dig. That’s 3.4% and I can’t imagine that RD acceptance rate was more than that.
I think, just based on anecdotal evidence (numbers on CC/Reddit), that Columbia this year waitlisted more than Yale did. Where did this number around 30 come from? Can’t seem to find any CDS data anywhere online.
It came from the class of 2025 waitlist thread. It was called out a few times.
There is a youtube channel called supertutor tv that has a recent video with very specific wait list data. Check it out.
Did anyone submit LOCI for Columbia for waitlist?
My S22 submitted LOCI pdf via portal 2 days ago. But the portal is not reflecting ?
but he received the email. how about others?
I believe I read somewhere last week - and it was probably last year’s waitlist thread - that people received email confirmation only, and the portal was not updated. But I would have to double check.
thanks, I will check last years thread.
just wanted to ask if anyone knew the format for columbia waitlist supplementary statement. is it double spaced or can it be single spaced? thoughts? thank you!
Has anyone received an email that starts like this recently?
“Thank you for responding to our offer to remain on our waitlist. Please see below for some important information regarding the Columbia waitlist:”
Not here. Did you receive an e-mail like this? What information was listed below?
Yes. It was basically about the nature of the waitlist. I don’t believe it held any importance
How would you estimate the chance of getting off the Columbia Waitlist this year? Watch SupertutorTv’s video about waitlists this year.
I haven’t received anything since the confirmation after submitting my LOCI. Wonder if that means anything?
I assume anybody who responded to the waitlist offer would have received this email. As with all email, always check junk if you haven’t seen it yet. Came yesterday evening.
Is this along with the initial email of ‘Thank you for your interest in remaining on the Columbia University waitlist’? I haven’t received the one that you are talking about, just the one that I wrote above
