I’m so sorry I’m just responding now! I heard back on 1/5 (pass) and submitted on 12/7. BAL to your daughter!
Has anyone received results from BU or Purchase?
Yes, in 2019-2020, my D did a “dual application” for U Mich where she applied to both SMTD and School of Arts & Sciences so she had two separate processes
My son completed the virtual audition at Juilliard today. Just FYI: lots of waiting. He was very excited to be called back for a second look audition in front of more faculty but didn’t get to the “end of day” call back. Apparently that’s not unusual for applicants right out of high school but overall a very good learning experience!
wow! congrats to him!
I felt like I was “pretty” prepared with my boys last year- but still SO many twists and turns. I have a sophomore, daughter- and feel like I know SO MUCH more!! Even if just being ready for the unexplainable! Wish I could help others more…such a tough process. And everyone’s journey is so very different. I do not know how a high school senior navigates this without support
That’s wonderful! So glad this early on experience was a good one!
Thanks so much - he was pretty exhausted by the end and would have liked to go further of course, but overall a very good experience before the rest of his auditions. Interesting issue is how to keep the monologues fresh and avoid “automatic pilot” - he wasn’t “feeling it” as much by the late afternoon call back.
It is very difficult. My son has a late in the alphabet last name and for Michigan was in the waiting room until after 6pm. Everyone was done and the faculty was not at all interested at that point. He is convinced if he went earlier in the day he would have had a different outcome.
Any progress in Julliard as a 17 or 18 year is fantastic and shows enormous potential and talent. They take almost no one right out of high school.
I think that is an issue for everyone. Has he spoken to an acting teacher or coach? I suggest a strong moment before that he can connect with to settle him right where he needs to be to start but he may already be doing that. These kids are young. Also at home he could try running through his monologues with just words a few times (no “acting”) before working it again and see if that helps find the freshness.
Thank you both @helpingthekid73 and @elizabethdrama22 - that is such good advice! My son also has a last name at the end of the alphabet. He doesn’t have a coach but is lucky to have a great relationship with his theater teacher at high school. It would be a good idea to talk about this issue before the next round of auditions.
I think Purchase had an artistic due date of Jan 7 and a prescreen result max date of Jan 19, so hopefully within the next week(ish).
BU in for this that applied.
If you don’t hear from BU is that a no?
Apology for my wrong info, @abg32, DD didn’t apply to NYU Steinhardt but Tisch, which allows to schedule for an virtual Artistic Review session before any feedback on materials uploaded.
I am not sure. On the FB page I follow parents are suggesting that because BU states they won’t contact you if they have everything they need that theoretically means a student can get in without passing the pre-screen. Though many parents suggested this is unlikley.
I should add that it does seem like the invitation emails went out at one time.
Okay thanks for the info!
S submitted to BU 11/15/21 and heard back today. (no)
Happy New Year, MTfriends!
DS has a virtual audition with CCM this weekend and I don’t think we have received any info on dance. Can anyone help us understand how they are doing dance portion of auditions?
Thanks!
