On my callback email for UMich it said they had callbacks going through the end of February. Hope that helps and best of luck!

@thatmtkid

Thank you! That is helpful to know! :slight_smile:

Also, to anyone who has passed prescreen at UMich, does it just come in an email or is your portal also updated? :thinking:

It was an email.

@elizabethdrama22

Ok, got it. So I guess checking the portal multiple times a day is useless? :crazy_face::rofl:

Oh God- I totally get you! We are still waiting on a bunch of schools over here and watching everything move to remote format.

sometimes last year it would say four hours, but the kids were actually only needed for a portion of that time.

Just one email from SMTD directly (different email address), didn’t fall into her “normal” primary inbox, n that’s one reason we overlooked that. So Thankful to @elizabethdrama22 and the admission office’s reminders! All virtual for MT auditions. I clicked the link just now, same Dates as listed on webpage. Feb 04, 11, 18th “has reached the max attendees” , and could still register for Jan 21st and 28th.

Don’t worry, i think it’s not difficult to somehow arrange an audition, as long as you’re keep communicating with SMTD already. Transfers may take more time to process?
In UMich’s Transfer Admissions’ webpage, there’s a line: “Be advised that we may not be able to send you an audition invitation until after the college transcript with grades has been processed.”

Can someone weigh in here. I am on a BFA acting FB page for parents and there has been some conversation about UNCSA information sessions/separate from auditions. My D is scheduled for an in-person audition in NY at the end of January- is there something else she should be attending? She has not heard from the school about an information session. Thank you!

When my D interviewed at U Mich (Tech, but everyone was together for an overview initially), we were all told that the students wouldn’t have been invited to interview/audition if they hadn’t been cleared academically. So being there that day meant they had been accepted academically.

This was 2019-2020, so it’s possible something has changed.

Bill Poole (the drama AO at UNCSA) is literally one of the nicest and most accommodating people that my S had ever worked with. If your D emails him he will answer any questions. They are back in person starting tomorrow. When they auditioned last year on zoom there was a separate online information session and audition that had to be scheduled.

That’s right about being “cleared” academically to audition. That is NOT the same as being ACCEPTED academically. There is not a separate academic acceptance to U of Michigan. If you don’t get into the BFA program, you aren’t then accepted to U of Michigan.

Thanks so much- she reached out to the program. Her info is a zoom on the 26th at 6:00 pm. She said the school was super helpful and nice.

Thank you so much. She emailed and he called her back and it is all set. She said he was super lovely.

My S (who goes there and LOVES IT) had a snafu with the audition date and he is literally the best. He calls, emails, and is on top of everything, as is everyone there. He couldnt wait to go back. I was very hesitent to send him to a small, standalone conservatory but it has been an absolutely wonderful experience (except for the terrible food)

It was my understanding last year, that the BFA artistic and academic acceptances were absolutely linked. You would have to complete a different application, upfront, to be considered for another major, if not admitted to SMDT. One of my sons did this, the other did not. Was similar at Penn State, though they asked, when not admitted artistically, if they would like to apply to another program. MI was up front
all the variants for each college
SO confusing!! Good luck! hang in there ALL!!

@mttnmom
yes, that’s right. If one wants to be considered at Michigan for anything but the BFA program, they would have to complete a different application for another school within Michigan. Thus, those who only apply to the BFA program, and are NOT admitted to it, are not “accepted” academically to U of Michigan automatically, which was my point. The BFA applicants are being screened for admissibility before being invited to audition, not “accepted.”
