I'm an incoming freshman this fall semester and I'm dorming in a unit 2 double at Ehrman Hall.

My roommate is a senior. I didn't know that was possible. I figure, either hes on financial aid, or he has no social life. =/

I'm wondering if I should be worried at all and if I should request a roommate change. I haven't really talked to him much; seems like a busy guy.

I’d actually be pretty happy with your situation. You’re paired with someone who has long-time experience at Berkeley. That’ll assist in having the upper hand with other freshmen.

he may have regents, in which case, i think you get garanteed 4 year housing… plus, it is probably the other way around. he may be annoyed that he is stuck with a freshman…i don’t know, just saying…

Agree with hunterbender - if a little difference like a few years age is going to be an issue, how will you tolerate people from different races, religions, political views, orientations, economic backgrounds or national origins?

I’d be a little weirded out too, but chances are he’s a transfer student and/or gets free housing. Sounds like a plus to me! Some of the coolest people I’ve met at Cal are the ones who are older than me and can teach me some inside knowledge.

Plus, to be honest, he’ll probably never be around. Good or bad, depending on your preferences :)

He probably realizes that a lot of Freshman aren’t going to want a Senior roommate… so it would be nice of you to not make him switch to another roommate who might just do the same.
