ok so i got a 2150 on the SAT in march; Math: 720, Writing: 740, Reading: 690 Essay: 9. On the april ACT i got a 34; English: 34, Math: 35, Reading: 35, Science: 33, Essay: ?(not up yet). I am wondering which one or if both i should send to colleges. I feel like a 34 is better, but coming from the east coast i am still under the impression that the SAT is a more legit test. two schools i am looking at are UMich (engineering) and Harvey Mudd, and i feel Michigan likes the ACT better while Harvey Mudd like the SAT better; do colleges really have a preference?

A 34 SAT sounds much better than a 2150 SAT. Check out the conversion chart; a 34 ACT correlates to roughly 2280 on the SAT.

Colleges usually have no preference whether you send one or the other.

The 35 Math on the ACT is much better than the 720 SAT for one thing. If you are not going to retake and are interested in engineering I would submit the ACT. You may need subject tests, though, and Math II is usually what engineering applicants are expected to take.

yeah i really don’t think i am going to take either test again because i am sick of standardized testing, and i have taken the bio M and got a 740 as a freshmen and in june i am taking math II and chem. I still have concerns about the ACT though because my councilor barely knows what the ACT is.

Your ACT is much better…don’t worry about “preferences” - colleges WANT to take whichever one is highest.
