217 page autobiography. confusing

Ok.

does the prompt say that it’s an autobiography of my ENTIRE life?

like, my future, and 300 pages is my entire life

OR

is it 300 pages of my life SO FAR…i’m only in 11th grade.

OR

Either Way, doesnt matter.

I remember people in this forum who got accepted interpreting it either way.

But as I recall most people interpreted as #2

either way

that's good that's good. i do hope like #2 better (coz i dont want to talk about my future, its gay) lol

haha that essay i totally just used my common app essay! i wrote about my dad and his "escape" from communism from china... so that'd be my past/present/future effect on my life... haha screw autobiography

I did the same with andy, but i wrote about a harsh moment in my life and my illness.

i think it's easier to write about the past that i can remember the whole thing. But if you got the really creative idea about your future (and confident that adcoms like it), go ahead with it.

Yeah, I liked Penn's essay prompts. They were pretty open. They practically could have just used "Write any essay that you think we will like" as a prompt.

I did 1) and wrote about how I did something really amazing on page 216, which sadly wasn't included.

The book 'the best 50 college essays' of petersons (i'm not sure about the name, but it's a blue, about 1-cm thick book) included Penn's dean of admissions comments. He says he's most interested in what's most important for individual applicants. I wondered if page 217 could be more important than any first or last pages. But I also made my 217 page capable of being either the first or the last page. (I don't know what's the number is all about--it could mean the memorable phenomenon or something absent-but-important about a person.)

there is a penn section in that book??
is there a penn section in the 100 essays by harvard book?

Chanman - an essay about exploring your sexual orientation could be successful if you avoid the cliches, so don't rule out option 1.

Either way is cool, I think there's a slight tendency to take option 2, but personally I find option 1 more interesting.

wow you sure are looking at the essays early...

I started in November.

lol i started december 28th.

I think the essay prompt just simply says "write something about yourself"
