2290 - Retake or not? Help Por Favor :)

I got a 2290.

The breakdown:

780 CR
800 Math
and 710 Writing, with only an 8 essay :[

As you can see, I did alright except for the writing section. However, I'm concerned that the overall score might be a little too low for HYPS etc.

Do you guys think I should retake the test (and risk dropping my CR and math scores)?

If you feel that you can improve the Writing score, go ahead and retake.

Superscoring handles this. Are you familiar with it?

^yeah i think i can improve writing significantly

do all schools take superscore? i looked up some schools, and a lot of the ones I’m applying to say they look at all your scores (doesn’t this defeat the purpose of superscoring then)?

“take” is not really the correct word, as superscoring, unlike Score Choice, is done by colleges and not by applicants.

Not all schools superscore, but the vast majority of highly selective schools do. Which schools are you looking at?

^mostly, UPenn, MIT, Stanford, and Yale

^ I believe all of those schools superscore the SAT. You may want to check their Web sites, though.

Retake. You can probably do better and superscoring and/or score choice will help.

Ouch, 3 of the 4 you stated dont superscore. Only MIT does from that list.
