800 CR 740 Math and 770 Writing with 12 Essay....Should i retake? I know with more practice i can get an 800 on math and writing...

Don’t retake unless you are REALLY confident you’ll get an 800 or thereabouts on math. Writing is always random, and you never know how you’ll do (especially with weird essays). Basically, if you average ~770-800 on practice tests (-1 or -0), it might be worth retaking. Otherwise, not really.

Sources: I’m like you: I retook a 2300 (800 cr, 710 m, 790 w) to get a 2340 (800 cr, 740 m, 800 w). For me, the difference was really not that big (especially as anything above a 2300 is good enough for any college). Nevertheless, if you feel you can do better, go ahead and take it again!

I see! thanks! i think i may do that. you in college already?

I think it really depends on where you plan on applying. Did you earn this score on your first sitting?

yup first sitting…sorry should have mentioned it… I am currently a juinor

Your score is great; congratulations! I doubt that any highly selective universities will view your SAT score as anything other than competitive. I think that your time and effort would be best spent improving or strengthening other aspects of your application. However, if you feel you can improve and you are willing to spend the time and money required to do so, more power to you!

Don’t retake, that’s a really competitive score for your first test.

Thanks guys, i think i may just try it and if i feel like i did badly, i will cancel it. I think i’m in a good position too…I did get beat by a completely incapable kid at my school though…+ i’m asian which would mean a automatic 120 point deduction off my sat :P
