Has anyone EVER heard of anyone getting a 240 PSAT? I've heard many reports of people who get 2400s but never 240, it's always just really close . . . it's like ultra rare or something.

I was a semifinalist, and my counselor showed me a breakdown of scores from the state of Ohio...I think there were 9 people who scored a 240 last year, out of 60k in the state who took the test...something like 75 people scored higher than 230. It's extremely rare, but yes it happens

Man I wish i applied myself back in 9/10/11th grades... i didn't care at all got a 198 in my 11th and 169 168 for 9th 10th... i didn't start studying till the SAT. Currently from May my score (2110) beat my states PSAT score (its like 205. very low). I don't get why I just didn't apply myself for them... man .

I know a girl who scored 240.

s that all right? Or is there a curve?

Yeah gyros...also, a score of 2110 would correspond to a much higher PSAT score...when I first started studying for the SATs (about a month before the PSATs in my junior year) I was consistently scoring (in the blue book) roughly 2100....I took the PSAT without any further prep and scored a 232...it's definitely a lot easier to score higher on the PSAT than on the SAT

J Shi, there is a curve just like the SAT

I found the difficulty of the SAT and PSAT pretty comparable.
223 vs 2240

a kid in my school got a 240 his sophomore year. i dont know whether he got it junior year too.

My physics teacher finished it in 45 mins.
He probably got 240. (He got 1600 when he was in highschool + he got 5 on 15 APs)

a) why did you take the PSAT 3 times?

b) I didn't study for it either, and there's no way in hell I would've gone back and done so, waste of time

Oh i took the Psat 3 times just because people said it was a good idea. I had no clue really what the SAT was till after the 11th psat lol..

a good idea? Lol.

I was the only NMS semifinalist at my school so the principal just gave me (actually, my mom, a teacher there) all the information that was sent to her, including the break-down of WA state PSAT scores. There were a few 240s.

lol it happens pretty often

There are even a few people on CC who had scored 240...I remember some of them posting in the last year's PSAT thread. It is definately easier to score 2400 on the PSAT than on the SAT...it's just because most people take the PSAT in the beginning of their junior year as opposed to their SAT in the end of junior year or the beginning of senior year so it seems people "score lower"...but actually the PSAT is considerably easier than the SAT.

I was one question away from 240 ;)

what's he doing teaching hs physics?

He is teaching physics.
He said that at senior yr in Berkeley, he thought hs teacher would be the best job he can ever have.
Oh, by the way, I think he is working on some research paper.
And also he owns a theater..so no money concerns..:)

Hm...a good friend of mine scored 231 in her soph year (last year) and a 2270 on the actual sat...so there may be just another 240 :/

My sat scores have been around 2000's-2060, 2090, 2030, 2040 etc in the bluebook. I just hope somehow I can pull up to 216...

Beginning of junior year PSAT - 209
End of Junior year SAT - 2110

whatiscollegeok...if you're talking about raising those scores of 2k to 216 on the PSAT...you definitely can. I was consistently scoring around 2050-2100 in the blue book before my PSAT, I took a practice PSAT, got a 230...got a 232 on the real one...it's MUCH easier than the SAT
