this guy at my school got a 240 PSAT
he wound up getting a 2400 SAT and becoming a Danforth Scholar with a full ride to WashU

I think PSAT is easier. I got 223 and 2150.

alright nice scores guys, but can anyone who got above a 230 give me some pointers on how they studied? what was your schedule? how far in advance did you study? what did you do each day?

I got a 2150 and I'm gonna retake, as I know that I can do a lot better if the cards fall my way.

There is no "real" way to study except to do the practice tests.

I took maybe 9 practice tests overall for my prep. It doesn't matter when you do them, you can do them the week before your test if you like; just get'em done.

I also can't stress the importance of feeling pumped and energetic.

me, I csimply can't clear my mind very well so early in the morning, so I drink a red bull, and it really helps

thats it, you can do it, the sat isn't really that hard, you just have to stop yourself from messing up.

and sorry I didn't get above 2300 but I know I can if I get some luck.

oh yeah, and make sure you get some helpful apps on your graphing calculator

Ok thank you very much! Can you name some of the helpful apps? I just have a bunch of formulas stuffed in my Ti-84.

for sat, put in the arithmetic/ geometric formulas (you can never be too careful), distance formula, slope (if you really need it), and quadratic formula.

i assume you have pyth thereom memorized lol

i just downloaded these from a friend, you can also download them from a computer, I don't remember exactly where the link is but a lot of people here know.

and remember, if you get a question that gives you an equation and asks you for the range, graph the equation and do second table, see where the y value says error to help get the range.

that's about all you can do.

sat math is really easy, it's just that it's so easy to mess up horribly.

K thanks. Yeah, I know I can get an 800 on math, and maybe a 760ish for writing. Just the reading is killing me. The multiple passage analyses. I'll probably get no more than a 700. Btw, I'm talking about PSATs.

the sat's are far more important though.

noone in our grade even studied for the psats, yet the average sat score at our school is 2185.

Whats this 'Blue Book' I keep hearing about.

I got a 231 PSAT and a 2400 SAT. My 231 is from THREE careless mistakes (one math, two reading). During my SAT I made sure to be especially careful and scored accordingly.

I got a 171 on the PSAT and then on my first SAT I got a 2070. I think it has to do with focus.

My friend Aaron got a 240 on his PSATs junior year (he scored in the high 220s-low 230s his soph year).

3 or 4 people at my school got 240s. The same 4(or 3+1 other person I guess) got 2400s on their first SAT sitting.

^ That’s some high school you’ve got there.

@silverturtle - Haha, yup… Not even ■■■■■■■■ here. We’re on the news for it, LOL.

the general consensus in my school is the PSAT is harder than the SAT. Most people I have talked too have had SAT scores 100 to 200 points higher than their PSAT’s. A part of me believes this has to do with more of a margin of error on the SAT (double the sections)

someone I know got a 240. This year. I saw their face when they got the score :P

236 on mine. Almost, almost. I don’t think anybody at my school broke 230, but I’ll have to double-check after break.

Apparently I misbubbled one on math and that kept me from a 239. Oh well
