2400 Admittances

I'm curious if anyone has any statistics on what percentage of perfect scorers on the SAT get into the top schools. I've heard percentages thrown around, but I've never seen any true citations.

(Yes, my reasons for asking are pretty translucent, I'm not going to deny that. But hey, can you blame me for asking?)

I remember that Harvard rejected 1;4 perfect SAT scorers or something...so that means a 75% acceptance rate for 2400's, which is pretty damn nice.........course theres only like 100 of em anyway per year....

2400 superscore or one sitting? theres a big difference i think.

one sitting

I remember that the percentage was in the mid-fifties

so does that mean with a near perfect score, one has a far higher chance or nearly certain chance of getting into the "human" schools? (aka Berkeley, UC's, top public's, etc) Even with a lower than standard GPA? Thanks

ps. Sorry to those who were offended by the Berkeley statement inclusive in "more human" schools...

Keep in mind that if one as a near perfect score ones GPA, academics in general probably aren't too lacking as well - which, if they were top flight, would probably be enough to get most of the UCs/publics alone. (No guarantees though!)

Agree with sdong, I believe that the vast majority of perfect scores belong to students with high GPAs and outstanding ECs anyway, I guess just a small number are "just" good test takers or are extremelly lucky.

Not really. Some committees won't even see the difference when they make their decision.

^ exactly......they'll just plug in 800 800 800 into their AI calculator. (if they superscore).

This is a standard case of correlation vs causation. Even though I'm sure the 2400 as itself helps the applicant chances are the applicant is good if not great at other things as well. For example, I'd bet admission at top schools is higher for people who do their own laundry vs people who have their parents do their laundry. (I'm one of the latter lol) The reason? It's not that colleges care whether or not you can do your own laundry, it's just that people who do their own laundry generally are more responsible, and as a result more likely to get better grades-this is what will help them get into college.

Is there a list of colleges that superscore versus those that don't?

What's superscore?
