grrr, I don't wanna go to university with 50% of my graduating class

Don't worry, you won't see any of them. The school has like 22,000 or so undergrads?
I'm in the same boat (public MD high school, most of intelligent grad class is going to College Park) and know exactly how you feel though.

I think that a lot of schools will require me to write a "why this major?" essay.

I wish.

Did you school have a Rensselaer medailst? If you got one then you're almost 100% guaranteed to get into Rensselaer (with a 15,000/year academic scholarship)... I got it for my school and feel guilty for not even wanting to apply though... You'll probably get in there anyway.

Brown seems to be one of the least competitive Ivies and I could DEFINETLY see you getting in there with your high scores and GPA. I would consider it a medium-high match.

Wellesley would be a low match.

Princeton and MIT reach, though with the alumni recs, Princeton might also be a match school.

Thank you! And no, I didn't win the RPI medal, but thanks to the suggestion of someone else in this thread, I'm going to talk to my counselor about maybe nominating me for it as a senior.

OH ALSO since colleges are so into that "leadership position" bull, I'm co-president of Art Club and Secretary of the ITA (Information Technology Academy.)
