2400 in June06

UPDATE:

well only a few days left..

Been studying my rear end off.

So far I can easily get an 800 in math. Still want to review a few key concepts though (Probability!)

800 in CR is also gonna happen, just have to do some brush up with passage reading (repition)

800 in writing is what Im working on right now. Im a tad behind schedule as Im still working on the improving sentences MC Qs, and after that I still have error ID & paragraph. So far in improving sentences, I have gotten about 1-2 wrong throughout the ~25 problems in the test. Timing is what I need to work on.

You guys know if error ID is easier?

Paragraphs are supposedly easy too

-PRiSM

how long have u been studying?
hrs/day?

a 2000 something to 2300+ (maybe 2400?) in about 5 months is a very good improvement.

keep up the good work!

could you share with us your CR strats? (specifically passage-reading..)

I don't know if this is a stupid question, but the name of the book is "Blue Book"? I'm trying to get in the 2300's no matter what it takes!

Yes, can you please tell us how you are studying for the CR section, Prism.

Thanks!

To Shawty: Not a stupid question at all! I didn't really know at first either.

It's "The Official SAT study guide" by College Board.

2400.

Im following the Grammatix strategy

basically most of the CR Passage Questions refer to a citation..the wrong answer choice is the one that is not what is stated in the citation. eg. the wrong answer choice will add too much information, or jumble up the relationships in the citations, or directly contradict the information, be completly irrevelent to the information. By information I mean citation. So when I approach a problem I look out first for the wrong anwers, and then choose the answer that is least wrong -> the right answer, and the right answer usually restates the citation.

Remember, repitition is the key to successs though.

that made almost no sense yet sounded accurate.......

What's your math approach?

I got my math to a T

I usually work at a fast pace, and finish with 5 min and if I was moving real fast, 10 minutes left

then I go over the last 3 problems cause those are ALWAYS tricky. But I dont change my answer unless I KNOW that something is wrong.

For the sentence completion, do you use strictly the grammatix approach (the strats given so you dont memorize vocab)?

I tried it, and I scored horribly :(

what's the blue book?

I dont strictly use anything actually, just apply what works in the particular situation -> best way

Im thinking of taking off school on friday to study more

not sure tho

one more thing
On passage based reading do you read the passage or skim the passage or not read and just fish for answers in the passage?

how long does it usually take you to finish passage based?

i'm really freeking out abt the SATs now. any effective last minute tips, anyone? i've been rly busy and so havent been able to prepare as much as i would've liked. i've done maybe about 2 week's worth of prep over the course of a couple months. but i have to say i've improved quite a lot from when i started out. but i still dont feel like i've done enough. i have less than 40 hours to go. what do i do?!!

practice questions

its 3 AM right now. I have school this morning. Im up memorizing vocab. I hope I get a good grade :</p>

ok so Im done with that

my thoughts:

800 in math, CR & Writing were trivial

spirits still strong for the 2400, but Im going to do my self a favor and NOT look at the 300 topics that must be up on this board regarding 'ooh what did you think of this question' all that does is give one tension..

In fact I just signed in to CC, went directly to my profile to find this topic, instead of clicking on the 'SAT prep' board..

Hope all of you did well, I think Im going to go watch 'Fight Club'

peace

About the test... what did you get for the question.... nah j/k. :D Good job. :) I really hope you get the score you desired. Good luck and remember to enjoy the summer. I'm telling this to myself as much as I am to you. I am a bit stressed about what I got in the test, though I think I did great. Just chill and accept the fact that you might get one or two wrong. Perfection is great, but it's not human. An 800 in every section either signals that you're not human or that you got very very lucky.

PRiSM, did you get that 2400?
