im interested to know as well

i heard the blue book has a lot of typos.. is that true?

I've done all the practice exercises, and nearly two full practice tests, and so far, I haven't noticed any typos... that doesn't mean there aren't any though :p

so... what happened with the 2400?

I agree with Prism's advice

then I go over the last 3 problems cause those are ALWAYS tricky. But I dont change my answer unless I KNOW that something is wrong.

Do this for extra time.

it's relevant to me... i scored a 2040 and will be retaking in october... hopefully I can get a 2400
so did you do it/get close?

2040 is sort of close to 2400. Just move the 1st 0 back a space and you have 2400.

i feel like preparing for the SAT is immoral...especially through tutors...it gives another unfair advantage to the wealthy...aren't the SATs supposed to be a way to compare students without the issue of economic class and oppurtunity?
maybe i am just biased...i didnt study or practice for the SAT at all and i recieved a 2210...

Tutors are useless. I don't think the OP even got close to 2400 since it seems he has started studying for the ACT.

i kinda think they are useless too...but people spend THOUSANDS on them..and statistics show that wealthy kids perform better on tests...

but wealthy kids perform better on all academics than poorer kids. Why should the SAT be different? Tutoring doesn't help much. It only helps slackers who won't study otherwise.

i dont think we can really have this convo without statistics (primarily statistics about kids that recieved tutoring)
I have trouble believing tutors dont help much...but again, idk cuz i havent recieved tutoring ( a friend of mine went from a 19 to a 25 with tutoring, and another with tutoring went from a 25 to a 28)

yeah, but most importantly, I'm curious what the op got.

Ha yes I have not forgotten about this thread at all

I haven't really read any of the new replies

DId I get a 2400? No.

Did I show substantial improvement? Yes.

Why did I not get the 2400? I am currently analyzing that, I have the 20/20 hind sight where I can see where I went wrong. Before I go into that, I think I am going to request for a hand check with my Grammar score. It came out even lower than it did in January, when I was SURE that I had done well in the section, I seriously hope I did not make some bubbling mistake I would be crushed if that happned. Other than that, I came close to an 800 with math seeing as that I finished each section about 5-10 minutes earlier than everyone else, where I went wrong in this was not using my extra time to keep working on the last few problems, if you are going to go for an 800 please keep this in mind the last few problems are very tricky, I would use satmathPRO.com and go over EVERYTHING there since the math there is of high level. For english (where my score rose the most) Grammatix was a definite help for its CR strategies. What I should have done is printed out more of the Collegeboard's online course CR questions, they were the hardest and I should of practiced them and read up the solutions. Grammar I am very disappointed because I felt very confident that I had done well, and I sincerely hope that I made a bubbling mistake (I did have a lot of tension the day of the test) because even if I don't get points back, I will know in my head that I did it right. Even then I suggest for Grammar to buy the Barron's SATII book on the writing section and commiting the rules to memory.

Does this prove that it is impossible to get a 2400? No. I worked hard, btu I could of definetly worked harder.

I'm sure all you want to know my score, I'll post it after I hear back for the CB regarding my Grammar score.

Right now I am contemplating on wether or not I should study over the summer and go for the October test or start studying for the ACT. I took a practice ACT and got a 33 which means that it should not be too much trouble to improve that to a 36. Then again I have a solid foundation in the SAT.

I wish all you luck with the SAT and if you have any questions PM me although I will be on vacation in Europe/Asia for some time and might not be able to respond

My final piece of advice: ALWAYS AIM FOR PERFECTION, because then you work for perfection

PRiSM

what was your score?

PRISM said he would post it after he heard back from college board about his "Grammar score."

Prism, why don't you post your math and CR scores then? we don't know you personally so don't be ashamed. And I agree...even if you don't reach perfection it's totally OK as long as you got somewhere by trying your best.

Ok here are my math and verbal scores

Math: 780
Verbal: 750

70 points up in math, 60 in verbal

Grammar score = in the 500s!

w..t..eff is that! - thats why I am getting it checked

edit: my math score was the best

Anyway my Grammar score IS embarassing which is why I panicked at the sight of it

rofl 500s..... nice going.... i would kill for your scores though ... you can take my 720 writing....

Congratulations On Achieving Your Goal
