Unfortunately, yes. :(

college of my choice!!! I would hate to get a perfect score!!

Why is that?

I wouldn’t want a perfect score for many reasons. Mostly stereotypical ones - that anyone who could score that high lacks social skills. I KNOW that isn’t always true, but I wouldn’t want to face that assumption from others.

Also, as a jealous person, I know that there would be alot of people who would be very jealous of me. and who honestly wants to be BFF’s with the 2400 kid?

And, mostly, i have always been the person who prefers 99’s over 100’s. Don’t ask me why, it just says more to me. so I would take a 2350 over a 2400, yes.

My reasons aren’t that great, but that’s the way I think.

and ok, hate is too strong. I’d always take a 2400 over a 2000. But i have never been and never will be the girl who dreams of 2400.

^Interesting view… I would have to disagree with you there. If you get a 2400, you are obviously very intelligent, and therefore would have excellent social skills (you would be more mature anyway). You would definitely seem different though, than most people.

I would take the 2400 over the automatic acceptance without question, because as Ivysaur said, it would quantify my intelligence.

good point IV, I think you are saying what I meant to say. They WOULD be smart and mature, and therefore be able to interact with other people HOWEVER they would be on a completely different level than others and likely have different goals, so they would interact differently.

And honestly, I want to be more than my intelligence and my test scores. i want to be know for things that really matter (in my opinion).

I shouldn’t speak about 2400 score-er’s, though. I’ve never met one!! :-D

I’d definitely take the college of my choice.

Definitely 2400, hands down.

Generally speaking, college of choice hands-down. Of course, that’s without context - in my situation (where I have a hook), a 2400 pretty much serves the purpose of college of choice in addition to having that cache.

That’s actually a negative in my mind. I like knowing that I earned my spot at a college because that gives my acceptance some validity.

the 2400 doesn’t quantify your intelligence at all
seeing as you didn’t actually work for it, and it’s not a magic score that makes you as intelligent as a person who would get a 2400

unless you’re saying you are that intelligent already, just without a 2400. which would be hella pretentious.

A comment from an old geezer parent … the last time someone asked me my SAT score was about 30 years ago (a consulting company asked while I was interviewing) … the last time I was asked about my undergraduate school was Saturday. Even as soon as this fall about 99.9% of your new classmates will not give a rat’s *** about your high GPA or SATs. I know you all are living college admission right now but it really it a very temporary part of you life.

hmm … a probably better response … I was lucky and got to go to my first choice school; I knew about 5 minutes into my visit this was the school for me. Looking back I had a great four years … learned a lot … grew a lot … had a ton of fun. Absolutely 4 of the best years of my life and better yet very transforming years. Could this have happened at a different school? … sure … but I’m also sure that my school was among the best for the 18-22 year old version of me to grow up. Would I trade a 100 SAT points for the chance to attend my undergrad school? Not in a million years … as a matter of fact you’d have to pay me to make the trade to move away from my undergrad school to get a better SAT score … and you’d have to pay me a lot … like 6 figures.

Definitely the college of my choice…an assured spot at Hopkins or MIT would let me rest easy at night.

Definitely college of my choice. I feel like the reason I would strive for a 2400 in the first place is to get into the college of my choice. So I’m just gonna bypass the middleman on this one :D

I’m gonna go with choice c) getting into the college of my choice AND being able to afford it

I chose the 2400.

I’d definitely go with the 2400. I wouldn’t like to be guaranteed admission into my college of choice because I feel like that would undermine the hard work I’ve done during high school. The 2400 would be very nice to have, and it would help me potentially get into more than one top school, because I’m not even quite sure where I want to go at this point.

I choose college of my choice since I have no intention of getting a 2400 when I heard of the SAT.

Definitely college of my choice…the reasons seem self-evident to me.
