this question is mind-bogglingly absurd. if you can’t see why, I can’t help you

college of my choice. I think the reason I want to get a 2400 is so I have a better chance of going to the college my choice.

To clarify what this decision would boil down to, you are essentially asking what you whether you would choose to pwn the SAT or get into any college of your dreams. Therefore, the following scenario is quite similar:

Would you take the SAT if it weren’t required for college admissions?

OR

Would you not take the SAT if it wasn’t to any degree responsible for admissions?

Choose whichever you want. The one you choose decides what you put more weight on. Precluding the circumstance that the SAT will determine aid (which it doesn’t really in most cases in top schools), that is a pretty rough approximation. I can only see someone choosing the former if they wanted to get into some BS elitist organization like Mensa instead of doing something productive with their life. I think almost everyone, if they really thought about it, would choose the latter, as would I.

a 2400 also helps you get into colleges.
what if you aren’t interested in ivy league calibre, and therefore a 2400 is essentially guaranteed acceptance anyway?

with the added bonus of maybe getting cash dollars

College of my choice.

How many of you would take the SAT if you were already guaranteed admissions to your number one choice?

I would if it would either increase my financial aid or make me eligible for some outside scholarship.
