<p>One of my S's friends was turned down at Chicago, but accepted at Princeton. A safety is usually considered a school that has over a 60% admit rate where one's stats fall in the upper 25% range.</p>

Yes, it does (or did) have that reputation. That is rapidly changing with Chicago's sudden boom in popularity. The "safety" label had more to do with Chicago's high acceptance rate and low yield than actual selectivity, however.</p>
<p>I also heard someone say that Bush was smart... but that has changed with his sudden boom in UNpopularity. </p>
<p>I guess if you allow people enough time, they finally get things right.</p>
<p>Princeton is my number one, then Chicago and Duke tie for second.</p>
