2nd semester grades, do colleges see them?

I'm confused.. a college i was accepted in said that they need final high school transcripts.. which ususally means just the grades in all your classes.. these do not show the quarter grades (at least in my school) so how could they tell if your 2nd semester was much worse then ur first (if the avg's are like 80's lets say)

All colleges require that you send a final high school transcript after you finish senior year because you cannot actually go to class in college until you you have shown that you actually graduated from high school. That is what they mean. That final transcript will be for all years you went to high school with, likely, all end of each semester grades. They can withdraw admission after you send that transcript if you blew off the last semester of senior year and got poor grades.

^^not all of that is true. for many schools, including some of the most selective, graduating from highschool is not a prereq.

I'm just confused b/c my schools final transcript is just the avg of the two semseters and the final... I dont believe each semester is on there.

You don't need the individual semesters. They're only interested in the final grades.

And, while graduating from high school may not be a prereq, if you applied as a high school senior intending to graduate, you need to prove that you have, and that your grades have not dropped precipitously.

Would a GED be sufficient as well?

yes...unless you are a current senior who is on track to graduate in may/june. you cant drop out of HS right now, and go get a GED and be expected to stay accepted.
