Hi! I’m confused on what kind of grades go in my transcript and what grades go towards my gpa…
Basically freshmen year of high school, i went to my public school where they had semester grades, but it was only the final grade (at least the teachers told us) that was on the transcript. Does this mean that my GPA for freshmen year depends just on my final grade? Or does it also include my semester grade?
My others years in hs were in a top private school and they clearly told us that the semester grades are on the transcript, and semester grades count towards our gpa.
But wouldn’t it look weird if I have 3 years of hs showing semester grades and then 1 year of hs just showing my final grades???
I may be completely wrong, so any help is greatly appreciated!
Ask for a unoffical copy of your transcripts so really see what is being reported. The HS registar’s office just sent me an email attachment for both my son’s transcripts. When you apply, you will need a copy anyways to fill out the application and once you are accepted, you will need transcripts from both HS sent to your college choice.
@Gumbymom why do i have to send my hs transcripts again after i am accepted?
most likely yes after you get accepted and commit to that campus.
You asked what grades are on your transcripts? The best way to find out, is to ask for a copy from each of the high schools. You will need a copy when you fill out your college applications. Some colleges require a copy(ies) at the time of application. Some colleges will also ask for a Mid-year report during you Senior year to make sure you are on track with your grades and the college in you enroll will ask for a Final transcript after you graduate.
Many colleges require a midyear and end of senior year transcript. Schools can and do rescind their acceptances if there is a major downshift in grades. They want students who can be expected to take their educations seriously. “Senioritis” can segue into “freshmanitis” when freshman can get so caught up in the new freedoms and opportunities for partying on campus that the run into danger of failing the first year of college. Which hurts the college’s stats on students who enroll and continue on to graduate.
