I have gotten accepted to a couple of colleges. OK, but here's the deal: the 3rd quarter is almost over, and I have 3 A's, 3 B's, 1 C, and a possible D (maybe low C). I could try to bring up a couple of the B's to A, the C to a B, and maybe the D to a C by the end of the semester, but I'm not so sure. I have a few questions:

Should I drop the class that I maybe have a D in?

Will this get me rescinded from colleges that are ranked between 10 and 50 in national universities and top ten in liberal arts?

Also, I have never been a straight A student. Every semester, I usually get 5 or 6 A's and 2 or 3 B's. I'm not sure if my current grades would be considered a big aberration from what I usually get.

I'm about to go crazy from all this stress. :(

Eeeh...that's a nasty situation although dropping it might look bad too especially this late into the semester...you should get a tutor and study your butt off for a C.

I guess I'll have to work harder in that class from now on.

Hmm... assuming that I raise the D to a C and all the other grades remain the same, can I get rescinded for having too many B's and C's?

focus on bumping up your cs and the d.

its better to get all Bs then some As and a D

Depends on what colleges you're applying to...with the UC system in CA, it doesn't matter much except for perhaps Berkeley...but with private schools...I don't know...they should give some type of slack for Senioritis though as long as the school's not an ivy league or something close to that...

AP Chem is a killer. arrrrgh. I think I just liquified my brain studying for that class the past two hours. I can't wait until spring break.

The UC's mentioned that they were fine as long as nothing is below a C, I don't think my grades will cause them that much concern. I also applied to Pomona, Stanford, and Cornell. <---- those are the schools I'm concerned about.

Oh...I don't know. Pomona is nextdoor to me and I know they're super critical and as I recall, US News listed them as one of the top three most difficult liberal arts school to get into...

Stanford to me, very much resembles an Ivy League. But then again, I know a girl who got into Dartmouth (ED) who had similar grades to you first semester and Dartmouth didn't rescind her acceptance so...hopefully it'll be the same for you...

How do you report a D to a UC? Do you write a letter?

You write a letter to them explaining whatever extenuating circumstance surrounded your grade...perhaps also send them a copy of your transcript. They won't like it, but they won't necessarily kick you out because it...most likely they'll just make you retake the class again at whatever community college.
