In the admissions contract it states:
You must complete the senior year academic classes listed on your application with at least a minimum overall unweighted B average and no grade lower than a C.

Is that overall or per semester?

Is that overall or per semester?

Does that mean it only counts a-g courses?

IF it says "overall," then they mean cumulative. They will take steps toward rescinding your admission if you get 3 Cs as well, during the last semester of your senior year though (although it's rare that they actually end up taking away your admission).

Basically just don't cut it close.

It didn't say anything about overall. It just said that you need a 3.0 UW.

Also, do only the a-g courses count towards the GPA?

If you do the math, then you cannot get below a 3.0 average if you get a C in any class. So it is cumulative, with the caveat that you cannot get a C in any class.
If you currently have a B, and get a B, that's 3.0
The only problem arises is if your school gives +/- grades, which if you have aB-, you have to get a B+ to average it out to 3.0...

For UCs, the requirement is NO Cs OR BELOW and GPA AT LEAST 3.0. Just don't get Cs.

If we do the math we can't get a 3.0 with a C?
Last time I checked, [2.0 (c) + 4.0 (a)]/2 = 3.0, no?

wait we can't get any C's at all?

I thought we just had to maintain 3.0 UW

It says no grader LOWER THAN a C. Please read. It doesn't say you can't get a C.

thank you yummymango. you cannot get a D or an F and if you get 3 c's 2nd semester you should be worried.

I was referring to civilengineer91's post. I read the first post

^Oh, yeah, I know. I was talking to civilengineer91. =]

so if i got a 3.8 first semester, does that mean i can get a 2.2 second semester? (unweighted)

a 2.2? somebody's looking to slack off big time....

a 2.2 GPA would most likely mean you got a few C's (or even a D), which doesn't bode well for admissions.

O God please don't.

2.2... I'd like to see the teacher's face on that one.

That's not just slacking off, but a dropping out of school for the next month bad. 3.8 is a A-(ish).. to go from that to a C+ means you just dropped off the face of the earth and forgot to turn in any projects, failed to take your final, and maybe even cussed out the teacher.

And if that's how you decided to spend your last two months at the school, you don't deserve to goto college.

I spent my last few months reminiscing about the good times with my friends, joking about the school, classrooms, and teachers. By the end of it, you had to pry me away from the halls. So many memories with so many people. It is hard to know what will happen next. And scary to say the least...

What if I get a 3.14 for both semesters? Is that okay? When it means significant grade drop does that mean they compare your grades from the other semesters like 10th and 11th and judge a significant grade drop?

Just maintain a 3.0 UW and you should have no problems
