Hello everyone. When I started off at community college (Pasadena City College), I started off very strong. I was doing well and was involved in the honors program. Last year hit (2018-2019) when I was applying to UC’s to transfer. Some really bad stuff happened in my family and I was also dealing with some of my own anxiety problems. Very long story short: I ended up getting a D in my Linear Algebra class and a C in my Multivariable Calculus class (I applied as a math major at that time). Spring semester I was rejected from all the schools I applied to (UCLA, UCSB, UCSD), and that sent me even deeper into the depression I was in because that was on top of everything else that was going on in my life. I failed two of my major classes.
One of them, I retook over the summer and got a C. the other one, I’m retaking right now. I am now completely healed from everything that happened last year and I am acing all three of my classes ( Differential Equations, third semester of Physics, and retaking Linear Algebra).
I CANT TAG to UCSB anymore because they raised the TAG requirement from 3.2 to 3.4.
Assuming I finish my semester with all A’s, what are my chances of getting in to UCSB? I’m very set on Santa Barbara. I’ve had numerous people read my Personal Insight Questions and they said I did a great job explaining my struggles and situations, and also show a lot of promise and resilience. But does this even matter with UCSB? I heard they don’t even read insight questions like the other UC campuses.
PLEASE HELP ME OUT. Application season is coming into full swing and the anxiety is creeping in. I don’t know what I would do if I’m rejected a second time.
Does anyone know someone who was accepted into UCSB for Physics with a 3.2 GPA?
